  • Patent number: 5110452
Abstract: This invention generally relates to a catalyzed short residence time decomposition and volatilization of coal to produce liquid co-products while minimizing production of char and gas without utilization of external hydrogen, that is, hydrogen other than that contained in the coal feedstock. The invention more particularly relates to an improved method of economically producing uniform, fluidic, oil-type transportable fuel systems and fuel compositions and a slate of "value-added" co-products by a catalyzed coal refining process employing short residence time hydrodisproportionation (SRT-HDP). The preferred catalysts are oxides and salts of iron.

  • Patent number: 5104558
Abstract: A rust-proofing oil composition is disclosed for use in the surface treatment of steel sheets which are plated with zinc and other plate materials. The composition includes a base oil such as a mineral and/or synthetic oil having a kinematic viscosity of 5-50 cSt at 40.degree. C. and blended in specified combinations with ester sulfide, metallic soap and metallic sulfonate. The composition exhibits ability of eliminating flaking, scoring and other surface defects of a plated steel sheet.

  • Patent number: 5098588
Abstract: A new class of lubricants based on the general features of archaebacterial lipids but not limited to lipids solely extracted from archaebacteria is described. These lubricant/additive molecules have the following features: bipolarity, ether bonds and branched biphytanyl chains. They can be double chained or single chained. This new class has the potential to be highly thermally and chemically stable due to the above mentioned features.
