  • Patent number: 7675647
Abstract: When a photo album on an event such as wedding is generated, images to be inserted in image insertion areas in a template can be selected easily. A professional photographer photographs the bride and groom on the day of wedding, and obtains images. Characteristic quantities of scenes represented by the images are calculated, and the images are classified into image groups of the scenes. With reference to a reference-value sequence table describing reference values of the characteristic quantities of the scenes in the event in order of occurrence of the scenes, the image groups are arranged in order of the scene occurrence. A catalog of the images is generated in the same order, and displayed in an editing screen.

  • Patent number: 7652786
Abstract: An optical scanning device 65 is adapted to bring a deflector mirror plane 651 into independent pivotal motions about a first axis and a second axis perpendicular to each other. A mirror driver section including a first axis driver and a second axis driver is so controlled as to bring the deflector mirror plane 651 into pivotal motion about the first axis thereby deflecting a light beam L for scanning along a main scan direction. On the other hand, the deflector mirror plane 651 is pivotally moved about the second axis thereby to adjust the scanned beam L for its position on a photosensitive member 2 with respect to a subscan direction. Thus, even if the scanned beam is deviated from a reference scan position with respect to the subscan direction due to component tolerances or assembly errors, such a deviation can be corrected.

  • Patent number: 7605945
Abstract: The present invention selects color materials for a virtual device from real color materials, adjusts a gray balance to obtain a predetermined black color at a maximum device value by using selected color materials, assigns a color material amount to each device value so that a relation between the device value and brightness becomes linear when outputting gray, and evaluates a color range reproducible by the virtual device with the assigned color material amount by an inclusion rate for a standard color group so as to start the process all over again from selection of the color materials if evaluation is poor. It thus obtains the color reproduction definition of the virtual device and performs the color conversion including gamut mapping using the color reproduction definition.

  • Patent number: 7599096
Abstract: On the basis of a standard one-dimensional LUT 412, a plurality of one-dimensional LUTs 413 having mutually different tones are generated. Next, a plurality of monochrome sample images are generated using this one-dimensional LUTs 413, and a catalog print in which these monochrome sample images are arranged is printed out. Once the user has selected from the catalog print a sample image having the desired tone, a monochrome image is printed out using the one-dimensional LUT 413 that corresponds to the sample image.

  • Patent number: 7554696
Abstract: A method for minimizing color-image halftone dot-gain in the output of a multi-level halftone color-imaging output device. The method includes characterizing that device's halftone output, on a per-color basis, regarding pixel-pattern-specific dot gain which can be related to device pixel-infeed intensity levels, and from that characterizing, creating, and then applying to throughput color-image files, on a pixel-by-pixel basis, and for each output color producible by the device, a pixel-to-device infeed intensity correction value, thus to minimize device-output dot gain.

  • Patent number: 7535589
Abstract: A print control apparatus, method and system that acquire a first band area for storing band data of a predetermined size according to band information for processing by a printer device. Print commands are divided into each band in which a printer device processes, and stored into the first band area in band units. If the print commands corresponding to a particular band cannot be stored in the first band area, a memory area for storing the print command is acquired as a second band area, the print commands stored in the first and second band areas are linked, and the linked print commands are transmitted to the printer device.

  • Patent number: 7502144
Abstract: A method of generating a second bit map, improved in first-direction resolution, from a first bit map having a plurality of image-forming pixels arranged two-dimensionally, the method comprising a first detection step of detecting first and second edges appearing in a second direction orthogonal to a first direction in a first bit map, and the first addition step of adding at least an edge extending in the first direction, when a portion between the first and second edges permits interpolation, to between third and fourth edges on the second bit map respectively corresponding to the first and second edges so as to effect interpolation between the third and fourth edges. Since the first and second edges, if detected, permit smoothing, a look-up table is not needed, and even a long-range unevenness can be smoothed without a smoothing range being limited to a predetermined region.

  • Patent number: 7492477
Abstract: A color conversion relation derivation method derives a color conversion relation between a first color space and a second color space. This method comprises an area-forming step that forms a plurality of areas filling the first color space; a partial function derivation step that derives, for each of the areas formed in the area forming step, a partial function representative of a color conversion between coordinates in the area and coordinates of the second color space using a set of an arbitrary sample point provided in the first color space and a point in the second color space, which is associated with the sample point; and a whole function derivation step that combines the partial functions for the respective areas derived by the partial function derivation step to derive a whole function representative of the color conversion relation through the first color space in its entirety.

  • Patent number: 7480074
Abstract: An image forming apparatus illuminates a pixel formation member with optical energy according to image data specifying a value for each pixel in the image. Some of the optical energy emitted to form a pixel is distributed over surrounding pixels; similarly, a pixel may receive peripheral optical energy that was emitted to form surrounding pixels. The amount of peripheral optical energy thus received is calculated, and the amount of optical energy emitted to form the pixel is adjusted to compensate for the peripheral optical energy, so that the total optical energy received by the pixel has the intended value. Image irregularities are thereby avoided, even if the image formation apparatus employs multiple light-emitting elements with different energy emission distributions.

  • Patent number: 7474446
Abstract: A color reduction processing apparatus and method reduce an original image containing many colors to a printable image containing few colors according to human color sensation. A conversion processing unit converts the pixel data for each pixel in an RGB color image (original image) to HLS data. A color reduction processor then generates print image data (the reduced-color image) reduced to a first color, second color, and a non-printing color by calculating the hue H, lightness L, and saturation S values of the HLS data based on specific parameters. These parameters can be set from an operating screen presented on a display. The original image and reduced-color image are presented on the display for verification by the user.
