Abstract: A liquid crystal display device of multi-panel type designed for achieving a large display by connecting a plurality of liquid crystal display panels to each other adjacently on a flat surface. The diameter of spacers contained in a seal placed on the joined side of each liquid crystal display panel and adjacent liquid crystal display panel is made greater than a diameter of spacers contained in a seal placed on other sides. Electrical wiring is formed on at least one of two pieces of substrates holding a liquid crystal therebetween so that the electrical wiring does not overlap the seal placed on the joined side. This structure enables the cell gap in the vicinity of the joined side of each liquid crystal display panel and adjacent liquid crystal display panel to be substantially equal to the cell gap on other sides, thereby providing a multi-panel type liquid crystal display device having high display quality.
