  • Patent number: 4836318
Abstract: A track roller frame assembly for a track-type vehicle includes a rugged and yet lightweight main body including a channel-shaped base, a recoil-mechanism receiving tubular casing overlyingly connected to a first end portion of the base, and a plate structure overlyingly connected to the second end portion of the base. A collar defines a bore therethrough for receiving a support member of a drive wheel preferably containing a hydraulic drive motor, and a support bracket is connected to the tubular casing for pivotally connecting the main body to the main frame of the vehicle. The weight of the superstructure and the tension forces on the drive belt that encircles the track roller frame assembly are advantageously transferred through the collar and the main body along a central vertical plane therealong and to a plurality of roller wheels centrally supported under the base.

  • Patent number: 4836387
Abstract: Apparatus for sorting articles and comprising a deflector movable between first and second positions to ensure that an arriving article will follow one of two paths, a stepping motor (20), the shaft of which is coupled to the deflector (21), and end stops (17, 18) limiting the angular movement of the stepping motor shaft to an angular interval between first (12) and second (13) angular positions corresponding to the first and second positions of the deflector. The angular interval between the first and second angular positions of the stepping motor shaft is less than and lies within the angular interval defined by a shaft position (10) of stable equilibrium in the first direction of energization of the stepping motor windings and an adjacent shaft position (11) of stable equilibrium in the second direction of energization of the stepping motor windings.

  • Patent number: 4834870
Abstract: Mixed pieces of different non-ferrous metals are sorted by initially moving the pieces through a high density, rapidly changing magnetic flux field, and immediately thereafter, freely moving the pieces along unsupported forwardly and downwardly directed trajectories resulting from the momentum of the pieces, the force of gravity and the magnetically induced repulsive forces developed in the pieces by the flux field. The magnitude of the magnetically induced repulsive forces differ for different non-ferrous metals so that the lengths of the trajectories of generally similar size and shape pieces vary accordingly for separating pieces formed of different metals. The magnetic field is provided by a horizontally axised, rapidly rotating, hollow, liquid cooled, iron wall drum having magnets affixed to its outer surface. The magnets are arranged in rows that are formed of numerous, tile-like, small, permanent magnets which are positioned end to end, with their like polarity ends adjacent.

  • Patent number: 4828302
Abstract: A protector to prevent opening of doors of adjacent vehicles from denting a car door is disclosed. The protector has a hollow outer tube which may be shortened to proper size to fit the door. In cross-section, the tube has a rounded protuberance on its outside and a curved bottom with outward extending feet to prevent the tube from turning once it is applied. Within the outer tube is a highly resilient core of rubber or plastic material (also capable of being cut to a length less than the width of the car door) and hooks are screwed into the ends of the core. The hooks engage the vertical side edges of the door to hold the protector in place. Alternatively the protector may be formed of a single piece of resilient rubber or plastic material which may be cut to size and hooks screwed into the ends.

  • Patent number: 4828308
Abstract: Lifting and depositing devices which have four rack and pinion jacks are used to raise and lower transportable large containers or to support them above the ground, and the jacks can be attached to a container by arms reaching to the ISO corner fittings of the container. Each arm has a connecting beam which is approximately the height of the container, which is supported by means of a journal arranged at its top end parallel and at some distance therefrom in a top ISO corner fitting an is detachably fastened to its bottom end by an angled connecting part by means of two snap locks. In order to allow this fastening to the bottom ISO corner fitting, at least, the one snap lock is configured as a modular removably structural part. The snap lock, however, is also suitable for other attachment components, for instance pulley blocks or roller trestles for large containers.

  • Patent number: 4826229
Abstract: An improved portable cable release mechanism for mounting on the deck of a tow boat, tug, ship or dock and used to tow and dock barges, boats and ships, which mechanism is designed to receive one end of a tow cable or docking cable in order to secure and selectively release the vessels. The cable release mechanism includes a pelican hook pivotally attached to a frame which can be removably mounted on a dock or secured to the deck of a tow boat, ship or barge by means of a clevis plate. A sliding keeper normally secures the pelican hook in closed configuration in the frame and release of a towing or docking cable from the pelican hook is automatically effected by activating an air or hydraulic cylinder having a piston provided in cooperation with the keeper ring. This action extends the cylinder piston and forces the keeper from engagement with the pelican hook, allowing the pelican hook to pivot rearwardly responsive to the load on the cable.
