  • Patent number: 8239569
Abstract: A method and apparatus for routing data in a network is disclosed. A spoke router signals its intention to act as spoke in a new bit in Hello and database descriptor packets. A router acting as hub acknowledges the spoke request. Once the spoke router receives the hub's acknowledgement, it installs a default route to the hub router. Flooding is suppressed from hub to spoke. Instead of flooding, the hub router sends empty database descriptor packets so that no request is sent from spoke routers and any further change in the topology is not sent to spoke routers. This minimizes the flooding in this environment.

  • Patent number: 8090789
Abstract: A data storage system having protocol controller for converting packets between PCIE format used by a storage processor and Rapid IO format used by a packet switching network. The controller includes a PCIE end point for transferring atomic operation (DSA) requests, a data pipe section having a plurality of data pipes for passing user data; and a message engine section for passing messages among the plurality of storage processors. An acceleration path controller bypasses a DSA buffer in the absence of congestion on the network. Packets fed to the PCIE end point include an address portion having code indicating an atomic operation. An encoder converts the code from a PCIE format into the same atomic operation in SRIO format. Each one of a plurality of CPUs is adapted to perform a second DSA request during execution of a first DSA request.

  • Patent number: 8078707
Abstract: A system manages a network that includes devices, administrators, and objects. The system forms a hierarchical tree of domains that semantically organize the network, where each of the domains includes logical groupings of the devices, the administrators, or the objects. The system manages the network based on the hierarchical tree of domains.

  • Patent number: 8069240
Abstract: Methods and systems are disclosed for modeling the performance of an IT service. The methods and systems take a holistic approach by treating the entire IT service instead of the individual nodes. In one implementation, the methods and systems provide a tool for mapping the performance of the IT service based on throughput and response time data. The tool may then be used to develop a mathematical model for the performance of the IT service. System parameters that may impact the performance of the IT service may be correlated to variables in the model. The model may then be used to predict the impact changes may have on the performance of the IT service. Performance maps for the same IT service may be compared over time to discern any departure from a norm. A database of performance maps may be established for a particular industry to facilitate intra-industry comparisons.

  • Patent number: 8015297
Abstract: A method for detecting fault in a next generation network includes: establishing a tool set and a corresponding command set for detecting whether the network is connective and detecting a range of network fault; creating dynamically in a PROXY an address mapping table storing a correspondence relationship between a user identifier userid and address information of a user terminal; and upon occurrence of a fault in the network, obtaining the address information of the user terminal from the address mapping table according to the userid of the user terminal probed currently, executing the set of command according to the address information, and probing connectivity of the network between the PROXY and the user terminal. The problem that the network address transform (NAT) device and the firewall cannot be traversed may be avoided, and the fault point or range may be detected accurately in the NGN where a fault occurs.

  • Patent number: 7975024
Abstract: A computer system in a wide area network, including a workstation computer and a first virtualization server which maintains virtualization information in real time for the workstation computer on a first storage device, wherein the first virtualization server is located at a first site. A second virtualization server is located at a second site in the wide area network. At the first site, a first gateway computer is operatively connected to a first synchronization computer and at the second site, a second gateway computer is operatively connected to a second synchronization computer. A copy of the virtualization information of the workstation computer is maintained in real time on a second storage device at the second site, by intercommunicating between the first synchronization computer and the second synchronization computer.

  • Patent number: 7779143
Abstract: Methods and apparatuses are provided for detecting traffic patterns in a data network. A sequential hashing scheme can be utilized that has D hash arrays. Each hash array i, wherein 1?i?D, includes Mi independent hash tables each having K buckets, with each of the buckets having an associated traffic total. Each of the keys corresponds with a single bucket of each of the Mi independent hash tables of each hash array i. The keys of the data network are partitioned into D words. As traffic is received for a key, a traffic total of each bucket that corresponds with a key is updated. The hash arrays can then be utilized to identify high traffic buckets of the independent hash tables having a traffic total greater than a threshold value. The high traffic buckets can be used to detect significant traffic patterns of the data network.

  • Patent number: 7774428
Abstract: A mechanism is provided for automatic response time measurement of Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) server operations are provided. The mechanism makes use of an LDAP server plug-in interface and LDAP server plug-in modules to automatically inject response time measurement code before and after each LDAP server operation during real time operation of the LDAP server in a runtime environment. In addition, the mechanism makes use of correlation tokens in the LDAP environment so that LDAP client and server operations may be correlated with one another in an end-to-end transaction. Mechanisms for passing correlation tokens between plug-in modules for the same LDAP server operation and passing correlation tokens between the LDAP client and LDAP server, and among LDAP client calls within a single session, are also provided.

  • Patent number: 7761591
Abstract: Client-specified methods, systems and computer program product with multi-protocol access for data input requests designed around a client's business application. It does this by interfacing IVR/telephony programming of multiple communication device protocols to separate data source input protocol programming, including remoting programming. Data input is by selected IVR/telephony responses designed around the needs of the individual client through selection process within a variety of configuration templates. The templates are designed to interface with the business applications through programming procedures for data entry specific to each application's protocol. The advantage, templates reduce user/client's interface with the business applications resulting in minimal time and knowledge of each applications data requirements, and limits each user's access to the system to specific data input. System response for data output is limited to the requested input for error reduction.
