  • Patent number: 6863522
Abstract: A method serves the purpose of introducing fuel and/or thermal energy into a gas stream flowing to a catalytic reactor. The gas stream flows in part through an exterior chamber and in part through an interior chamber, which is at least partially open in the flow direction and to which fuel is supplied. The partial streams are re-united after flowing through the two chambers and are fed to the catalytic reactor. In a starting phase of the still cold catalytic reactor, the fuel is burned in the interior chamber. During conventional normal operating modes of the warm catalytic reactor, the fuel is vaporized in the interior chamber. In a suitable device, the exterior chamber and the interior chamber are designed as two tube elements that are inserted into one another.

  • Patent number: 6688878
Abstract: A gas lighting rod comprises a gas release valve and a piezoelectric igniting system, both operated by a spring-loaded operating member, and a spring-loaded safety member which has to be operated to release the operating member. The operating member is aligned transversely and the safety member includes a pivoted lever having a lock/release arm extending generally along an axis of the operating member and interacting therewith, and a control arm engaged on an other side of a pivot and from an opposite side of the lighting rod from the operating member. The lock/release arm is substantially enclosed within the operating member, and its end is sloped such that its engagement with the operating member tends to urge the end into a locked position if a user attempts to operate the operating member without first fully operating the safety member.

  • Patent number: 6672302
Abstract: A gas burner has a gas distribution section, an inlet to the gas distribution section connected to a supply of combustible gas, a plurality of outlets, and a gas diffuser. The gas distribution section includes at least one tubular member having a substantially flat first side and formed into a closed loop-shape. In one embodiment, the burner outlets are slots arranged along the first side and oriented substantially transverse to the axial direction of the tubular members whereby a locally uniform flame front is provided at each outlet. The gas diffuser is disposed adjacent the burner inlet to facilitate a uniform flame front along the entire gas distribution section by smoothing out fluctuations or variations in the incoming gas flow.

  • Patent number: 6663382
Abstract: A safety lighter includes two wheels axles coaxially supported on two sides of a spark wheel respectively. Two driving wheels, each having a receiving cavity provided on an out side of said driving wheel, are supported by two driven bodies of the wheel axles respectively wherein each driving wheel is adapted for turning on the respective driven body in a free rotating manner. Two positioning discs are disposed in the receiving cavities of the two driving wheels and firmly supported by the two driven bodies of the two wheel axles respectively wherein the positioning discs are adapted to hold the two driving wheels in position respectively, so as to prevent lateral movements of the driving wheels with respect to the wheel axles.

  • Patent number: 6644957
Abstract: A device for controlling a damper in an appliance is disclosed comprising a motor having a rotatable shaft extending therefrom which is operatively connected to a plate of the damper, a control circuit which transmits current to the motor to rotate the shaft and in turn rotate the plate to a first position and to a second position, and a dynamic brake operatively connected to the motor, which acts to reduce rotation of the shaft when the circuit supplying current to the motor is opened.

  • Patent number: 6640801
Abstract: A disposable heating device is disclosed that includes a container having a first zone, a second zone and a third zone. A fuel is contained within the first zone and an oxidizing agent contained within the second zone. A first frangible separator disposed between the first zone and the second zone. The first frangible separator is manually operable to provide communication between the first zone and the second zone thereby defining a reaction zone. A second frangible separator is responsive to an exothermic chemical reaction within the reaction chamber. The second frangible separator is operable to provide communication between the reaction chamber and the third zone. Communication between the first zone and the second zone allows mixing of the fuel and the oxidizing agent to initiate an exothermic chemical reaction and an environmental parameter associated with the exothermic chemical reaction operates the second frangible separator.

  • Patent number: 6638058
Abstract: A tubular burner for industrial furnaces is capable of achieving a good mixing of combustion gas and fuel. This burner contains an end section projecting into a combustion zone supplied with secondary combustion air, and several separate annular feed ducts for combustion gas and fuel bounded by tubular walls arranged coaxially one inside the other, individual nozzles being arranged in approximately annular distribution in the end wall of the combustion gas feed duct facing into the combustion zone. To achieve a good mixing of combustion gas/combustion air and fuel, at least one outer annular feed duct is constructed essentially as fuel feed duct, whilst the combustion gas feed duct equipped with individual nozzles is arranged radially inside this fuel feed duct.

  • Patent number: 4910807
Abstract: In a trip lever bath waste and overflow system, a valve actuating linkage having a ratchet mechanism for easy length adjustment of the linkage. The ratchet mechanism includes a toothed rod which telescopes into a sleeve equipped with a wire clip serving as a pawl. After the linkage has been inserted into the overflow, the trip lever can be actuated to cause the rod to retract into the sleeve until the linkage assumes the proper length. The one way nature of the ratchet mechanism allows this retraction and also maintains the linkage in the proper length following initial adjustment.
