  • Patent number: 8181317
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a clamping device which can resiliency clamp an item. The claming device comprises a W-shaped metallic member to impart resilience for clamping an item, and a casing member having the metallic member embedded therein. The casing member is formed of a polymeric material through injection-molding to prevent corrosion of the metallic member while enhancing an appearance of the clamping device. A mold for the clamping device, and a method for manufacturing the same are also disclosed. Since the metallic member for imparting resilience is embedded in the casing member, the clamping device can be easily manufactured as a single component, remarkably reducing manufacturing costs. Additionally, the metallic member is prevented from being corroded, whereby the clamping device has a remarkably enhanced endurance as well as a compact structure and a high quality.

  • Patent number: 8177173
Abstract: A rail which can be bound, by means of a strap, to an elongate object, in particular a cable harness or a line, and has a bearing surface, which is intended to rest against the object, and a binding surface , which is directed away from the bearing surface and accommodates the strap. The binding surface has a plurality of protrusions which are compliant in the direction transverse to this surface. A strap arranged at any desired location of the binding surface is positioned transversely over one or more protrusions, in which case these protrusions are pressed down. Adjacent protrusions which have not been pressed down are located on one side and/or the other, and these resist the lateral displacement of the strap.

  • Patent number: 8171604
Abstract: A structure of steel cable fastener is provided for eliminating a returning force caused by twisting stress induced in a steel cable when the steel cable is stretched and fixed by the fastener, which induces a stress due to fixing of a fixing end of the steel cable. Such a returning force makes the operation and adjustment of mounting a locking cap to the steel cable difficult and also induces damage and wear of a fixing end of the steel cable due to twisting stress induced in the steel cable. The structure of the steel cable fastener includes a bearing retainer that carries a bearing device and arranged inside the locking cap to secure an end of the steel cable and a resilient element arranged between the bearing retainer and the locking cap for relief of twisting stress induced in the steel cable through the rotation of the bearing device.

  • Patent number: 8166618
Abstract: A strapping device used for installing, supporting, and sealing under-mount sinks comprises a series of straps looped by a series of rings and locking tightening devices. The locking tightening devices are used to tighten the straps and raise and support an under-mount sink in position. The rings and straps are anchored to hooks attached to the edge of the sink opening on the counter top underlay. A series of hooks are capable of holding a series of straps under tension to support an under mount sink in position with a located on the lip of the under-mount sink. A continuous loop of closed cell PVC is disposed atop the lip of the sink, so that when the sink is tightened through the countertop underlay, the lip of the sink encounters the underside of the countertop and the sealing material is compressed, forming a permanent, flexible, water-tight seal.

  • Patent number: 8166620
Abstract: A subsea connector comprises a female element (1) defining a parallel bore (2) adapted to receive a male element (3). First releasable locking means are disposed between elements (2) and (3) and comprise a sprung cage (6) in which balls (5) are retained for movement in tapered grooves circumferentially spaced around element (3). As the cage moves relative to element (3) balls (5) protrude from the cage to a greater or lesser extent to lock the elements together. Second locking means prevent relative movement between elements (1) and (3) in a locking release direction of the first releasable locking means. These second locking means comprise lock balls retained in an apertured body disposed between elements (1) and (2).

  • Patent number: 8166616
Abstract: A turnbuckle for an anti-skid chain that can be mounted on the wheel of a vehicle. A tension cable is connected inside the turnbuckle housing to a winding roll that is pre-stressed in the winding-up direction and mounted so that it can be rotated about its axle. A ratchet wheel with at least one ratchet catch allocated to it is provided on the winding roll and the tension cable can be blocked against its direction of tension by gripping of the ratchet catch into the ratchet wheel. The ratchet catch is moved at least incrementally outwards from the idle position when the wheel isn't moving, in which it is disengaged from the ratchet wheel and the tension cable is not blocked, under the action of the centrifugal force upon rotation of the wheel, and this movement effects a gripping of the ratchet catch into the ratchet wheel.

  • Patent number: 8156614
Abstract: Buckle type attachment elements, such as for belts, watch bands, or the like, and/or for securing or fastening elements (e.g., for footwear, handbags, briefcases, containers, or other objects) may be produced in a manner that generates minimal waste materials, without the use of metal or mechanical hardware type connectors, from completely recyclable materials, without the need for molding, without the use of plastics, and/or without the use of adhesives or cements. Such buckle elements may include a buckle portion and a tongue portion formed from the same material. In some structures, the tongue portion may be made from a part cut out to form the buckle portion. In other structures, the tongue portion may be formed by cutting slits into a base substrate that also makes up the buckle portion. Final products and methods of making such products also are described.

  • Patent number: 8127409
Abstract: The safety belt release mechanism includes sensor and belt release components. The sensor is installed at a low point within the vehicle. The sensor contains water-soluble material that retains a spring in compression so long as the water-soluble material is dry. If the vehicle is immersed in water, the water-soluble material dissolves, releasing the spring. In one embodiment, the spring drives a pin into a pressurized gas (e.g., CO2) cartridge, releasing the gas therein. The gas passes through a tube to the belt release component installed upon a belt latch mechanism, driving a pin from an engaged position in the latch to release the latch. In another embodiment, the spring acts directly to drive the latch pin from the engaged position to release the latch. While one such assembly is disclosed herein, it is most preferred that one such assembly be installed along each safety belt assembly of the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 8127405
Abstract: A reusable hose bundling sleeve is provided that is made of a tightly-woven nylon material coated with urethane. Strips of hooks and loops are adhered and stitched to opposite ends of opposite sides of the sleeve. The reusable hose is installed by wrapping the sleeve around the hoses or cables to be protected such that the strips of hooks and loops align and engage. Notches can be cut along the length of the reusable hose bundling sleeve to allow for shorter hoses or cables traveling within the sleeve to exit. Because of the materials used, the notches will not weaken the fibers and cause fraying. The reusable hose bundling sleeve is removed by separating the strips of hooks and loops and unwrapping the sleeve. The reusable hose bundling sleeve can be installed, removed, and reinstalled quickly and without diminishing the durability of the sleeve. Alternatively, the sleeve may be adapted to be secured and/or hanged.
