Abstract: Methods and compositions for improving performance of flocculants in an industrial production process. Methods include pH triggered cross-linking reaction between a flocculating agent, such as dextran, and a composition comprising a boronic acid-containing polymer. The pH trigger can be provided by a fluid having a pH of 8 or more. The production process can be a Bayer Process and the fluid is caustic liquor or slurry in the fluid circuit of the Bayer, wherein the reaction time is reduced over conventional methods and the cross-linked dextran composition effectuates improved flocculation of the trihydrate particles.

Abstract: Compositions prepared from an adduct of mono-maleated polyunsaturated vegetable oil and an alcohol mixture comprising a hydrophobic alcohol having at least 9 carbon atoms and methoxypolyethylene glycol having a number average molecular weight (Mn) of at least 350. Abstract: Provided is a lubricating oil composition containing a base oil (A) and an amine-based antioxidant (B), wherein the component (B) contains a phenyl-naphthylamine (B1), an alkylphenyl-naphthylamine (B2) and a di(alkylphenyl)amine (B3), the content of the component (B1) is 2.0 to 10.0% by mass relative to 100% by mass of the total amount of the component (B), the content of the component (B2) is 40.0 to 90.0% by mass relative to 100% by mass of the total amount of the component (B), and the content of the component (B3) is 8.0 to 50.0% by mass relative to 100% by mass of the total amount of the component (B). The lubricating oil composition maintains excellent oxidation stability even in long-term use in high-temperature environments, and has an excellent lifetime and is excellent also in a sludge preventing effect.

The flocculating agent comprises a degraded polyacrylamide comprising at least anionic units and having a process water viscosity reduced by 25-99%, preferably 50-99%, compared to a substantially similar polyacrylamide that has not been degraded by a degradation agent, measured at a shear rate 1 s?1 as a 0.4-0.8 weight-% solution of polymer in process water.
