Patent number: 6880957Abstract: An electronic lighting apparatus with at least one multiple position adjustable lighting pod. Each lighting pod includes at least one variable intensity light source and a proximity sensor for detecting objects interposed between the lighting pod and a work field. Each variable intensity light source is powered by a controllable pulse width modulated power supply or other suitable power supply which can be utilized to vary the intensity of the light source. In response to detection of an object interposed between a particular lighting pod and the work surface, the power to that lighting pod is increased, increasing the illumination of the work field. Alternatively, power to that lighting pod may be decreased and power to alternate lighting pods is increased, thereby minimizing shadows within the work field.Type: GrantFiled: March 28, 2002Date of Patent: April 19, 2005Inventor: Mark Wayne Walters

Patent number: 6814457Abstract: The present invention relates to an improvement for a light guide structure for light guide plate so as to resolve the problems of illumination and degree of uniformity of the conventional light guide plate. The light guide plate of the present invention has line-shaped passages which are located in parallel with the direction of light from the light emitting diodes. The depth of the passages becomes deeper gradually from one end to the other, wherein the source of light is located close to the shallow end, thereby the light from the light emitting diodes is transmitted to the remote areas that are located far from the source of light. The present invention increases the total illumination and the degree of uniformity, and the efficiency of the light emitting diode is also increased.Type: GrantFiled: August 5, 2002Date of Patent: November 9, 2004Assignee: Taiwan Green Point Enterprise Co., Ltd.Inventors: Shih-Tsung Chang, Chi-Feng Cheng

Patent number: 6805472Abstract: The lighting directions of a plurality of lamps RL and LL are controlled independently or integrally corresponding to a running condition. When a vehicle changes a running direction, the direction of the optical axis of one of the lamps is deflected earlier in the running direction and the direction of the optical axis of the other lamp is maintained in a straight running direction in a running condition in which other cars or obstacles might be present in the straight running direction of the vehicle, and the direction of the optical axis of the other lamp is deflected with a delay upon receipt of a further steering operation. It is possible to carry out an illumination in the running direction and the straight running direction of the vehicle. In particular, the invention is very effective for maintaining the safety running of the vehicle on an intersection road or at time of a lane change.Type: GrantFiled: October 2, 2002Date of Patent: October 19, 2004Assignee: Koito Manufacturing Co., Ltd.Inventor: Kiyotaka Fukawa
