Abstract: A system and method for designing web pages that enables web designers to place hyperlinks to web pages independent of any hierarchical relationship between the pages of the website. A link bar element is provided within a description of the website. The link bar element includes a persistent set of links, each link corresponding to one of several content files. One or more of the content files may be a web file. The link bar element is associated with at least one web file by including a link bar name in the at least one web file. In addition, other link bar information is stored in the web file and a description of the website is stored in a description file separate from the at least one web file that is associated with the link bar element. The description file includes an identifier for the link bar node and the one or more links.

Abstract: The invention concerns a device receiving data associated with a first profile and generating data associated with a second profile, comprising means to extract facts associated with the first profile, means to extract facts associated with the second profile, a set of rules describing a way to modify facts associated with said first profile into facts associated with said second profile, means to analyze said facts associated with the first profile and said facts associated with the second profile, means to modify facts associated with said first profile into facts associated with said second profile according to said set of rules. The device is characterized in that it comprises, means to request additional rules when said set of rules does not allow to modify facts associated with said first profile into facts associated with said second profile.

Abstract: A method and system for merging metadata with digital images is disclosed, where the digital images are stored as image files having metadata fields associated therewith. The method and system include receiving data uploaded from a remote location, providing a web application to a client device over a network when requested, and transmitting the previously uploaded data to the web application. When an image requires input of metadata on the client device, the uploaded data is displayed on the client device for selection by the user. In response to the user's selection, the selected data is then used to automatically populate the metadata fields associated with the image file.

Abstract: A method for document annotation includes providing a contextual framework extending over multiple electronic documents. Annotations are input to a computer by a user with respect to two or more of the documents, while the user views the documents on a computer screen. Each of the annotations is stored together with respective context information in a memory of the computer, the context information including multiple fields defined by the framework. The annotations are sorted with respect to the two or more documents according to one or more of the multiple fields of the respective context information, and the sorted annotations are output for viewing by the user.

Abstract: A method for identifying unsolicited electronic mail messages in a computer network. The method includes receiving an electronic mail message and removing non-static data from the electronic mail message. A checksum is generated based on data remaining within the electronic mail message and compared with a database containing checksums for previously identified unsolicited messages. The method further includes identifying the electronic message as an unsolicited message if the generated checksum matches one of the database checksums.

Abstract: Embodiments provide a system, method, apparatus, means, and computer program code that allow multiple annotations to a document to be created and that distinguish between the annotations made by different people. The people may view documents, exchange ideas and messages, etc. via a server or conference/collaboration system at different times and/or without being in direct communication with each other. In such an off-line collaboration mode, the people may want to add listen to, view, or add annotations regarding one or more documents. The methods and systems described herein allow users to follow the trail of annotations regarding a document and to distinguish between the voice or other audible annotations created by other people.

Abstract: A method and computer program for managing and presenting a visual history of web pages accessed by a user. This method and computer program is able to create a screen of thumbnail snapshots of web pages for presentation to a user. These thumbnail snapshots are reduced images of the actual web pages themselves that the user has visited. Associated with each thumbnail snapshot is a universal resource locator for the web page. The history of the web pages visited may be displayed in a toolbar which is scrollable.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method of editing data generated by handwriting. The method comprises the steps of detecting an initiation of an editing; identifying a marking stroke which marks data that is to be edited; determining an essentially minimal convex envelope which surrounds the marking stroke; identifying the remaining data, in addition to the data of the actual marking stroke, which is positioned within the convex envelope; and performing an editing operation on said data positioned within the convex envelope. The invention also relates to a handheld device and a computer program for editing of data generated by handwriting.

Abstract: The present invention can allow an electronic catalog or other set of items to be searched and compared interactively. In one embodiment, the invention includes displaying a list of items in an electronic catalog, each item corresponding to a row of the display, each row having values corresponding to attributes of the corresponding items arranged into attribute columns, grouping some of the displayed items based on a selected attribute upon receiving a grouping command so that the grouped items are displayed in a single row, and expanding the grouped items upon receiving an expand command so that the grouped items are each displayed in a separate row. The embodiment further includes removing a row corresponding to an item or to grouped items from the display upon receiving a row remove command and removing a column corresponding to an attribute of the items from the display upon receiving a column remove command.

Abstract: An external storage medium storing a computer readable access control program and a plurality of files. The access control program performs a first accessing process permitting a computer to access only the access control program when the computer attempts to access any of the files. A file view process is performed so as to display a view of the files when the computer accesses the information via the access control program. A second accessing process is performed when the computer accesses the information via the access control program while a user designates a prescribed file from the file view. The access control program stores information related to accessing executed by the second accessing process in the storage medium as access usage information.

Abstract: Collaboration space object model provides for a place consisting of rooms created by users interacting with a client browser. A skin (i.e., theme) may be used as template for creating places. PlaceBots (i.e., agents) provide for accessing, processing and managing data in a place. HTML may be dragged and dropped into a place, where it is parsed and corresponding place fields created. MS Excel or Word documents may be dragged and dropped into a place, which creates a corresponding form, and users may create new documents using that form. A place type comprising a template of an entire place, or collaboration space, may be used to create new places. Changes made to a place may be reported, subject to security controls, by selecting what's new. Task fields are provided allowing web browser creation of forms for work flow. Place enabled objects are provided for synchronous communications. A quick browse feature provides a simplified format for browser windows based on selection of HTML links.

For at least one row, information from one or more columns outside the viewable area of the window is displayed in a hovering row, which may be displayed below the associated row. Column headers may be displayed with the hovering row. Static display of the hovering row is toggled in response to user input, such as (de)selecting a toggle button icon associated with the row. The software application comprises a session recording module for recording parameters associated with a manual navigation sequence, a file creation module for converting data of a manual session into data comprising an executable sequence of instructions for conducting an automated navigation sequence, and an application-program-interface module for integrating a functional capability with the automated navigation sequence. The automated navigation sequence is characterized in that a completely automated browser-navigation sequence performed by the browser application is enabled through execution of the executable instruction sequence created from the recorded parameters of the manual navigation sequence.

Abstract: There is provided a form processing method enabling overlaying of field data without processing the field data, in form processing for overlaying field data onto a field in a form. In particular, the form processing method includes a step of setting an input picture for each of the fields as field attribute information, the input picture being composed of characters indicating a format of field data to be overlaid. In the method, picture words are cut (step S305) based on the input picture and field data words are cut (step S306), and the field data is overlaid onto a field (step S312).

Abstract: A document imaging platform system and methodology for capturing, transmitting, storing, retrieving and displaying documents in a shared-system environment using the Internet or other network is disclosed. Through utilization of thumbnail images along with full images, transmission of multipage documents is facilitated, avoiding system bottlenecks. Document security is hierarchically based with document control being available to system users in addition to system administrators.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method for facilitating auto-completion of user data input in a web page. The method includes receiving, during execution time of the web page, first user data input in a first data input field of the web page. The method also includes analyzing, during the execution time, the first user data input to ascertain among plurality of dictionary objects a first dictionary object. The first dictionary object represents a dictionary object from which candidate matches against the first user data input would be presented to a user of the web page. The plurality of dictionary objects are associated with the first data input field during build time of the web page. The method additionally includes matching at least a portion of the first user data input against members of the first dictionary object to obtain a first list of candidate matches. The method further includes presenting the first list of candidate matches to the user of the web page.

Abstract: A relay server computer adds control code to background contents to generate web data for display engagement, and sends the generated web data to every client computer. The control code becomes a controller by executed on the client. When an object such as image is pasted on the background contents displayed in an engaged fashion, the controller detects the event occurred by pasting, and sends the information indicating the event to the other clients via relay server. Consequently, the screen with the object being pasted is displayed in an engaged fashion among all clients. The object can be moved, modified, or deleted.
