  • Patent number: 9599261
Abstract: An adjustable joint having an outer housing section and an inner housing section telescopically disposed within the outer housing section. The inner housing section has an exterior portion within the outer housing section and which defines a circumferentially extending shoulder. An annular seal is positioned on the shoulder to create a seal between the outer housing section and the inner housing section. A circumferentially extending heat insulating spacer is attached to the shoulder and abuts the seal to retain the seal in place. A circumferentially extending heat shield is rigidly connected to the shoulder and abuts the heat insulating spacer and is located such that the heat insulating spacer is positioned between the heat shield and the annular seal.

  • Patent number: 9598665
Abstract: The racking arm includes a housing affixable to a tank side wall. A racking shaft extends through the housing with an inlet pipe coupled to an inside end of the racking shaft, with an entrance offset from a rotational axis of the racking shaft. A control arm is affixed to the racking shaft and can be rotated to cause rotation of the racking shaft relative to the housing and to change the entrance to different elevations within the tank. A clearance groove surrounds the inside end of the racking shaft to facilitate cleaning of the inside end of the racking shaft. The arm can interface with an indexing plate to hold the racking shaft fixed with the arm indicating by its position the orientation of the entrance. At least one leak detection port extends through the housing to indicate whether fluid is leaking between the racking shaft and housing.

  • Patent number: 9593475
Abstract: A pipe system has an elbow 70 with a snake-passing opening 72 (FIG. 3) that is normally closed by a plug 88, with the walls of the snake opening and plug constructed to avoid harmful wear during use of the snake. The elbow forms a nipple 82 that surrounds the snake opening. The nipple has threads (102, FIG. 4) on its outside so snake-caused wear does not initially occur in the threads. The snake opening has an axis 108, and the plug middle forms a cup 112 that extends axially inward to block a majority of the volume within the inner end of the nipple.

  • Patent number: 9568131
Abstract: A connection structure of a corrugated pipe is provided that may include a corrugated pipe, a clamping nut located outside of the corrugated pipe, a confinement ring mounted on a valley of the corrugated pipe and disposed within the clamping nut, a connection body having an insertion portion inserted into the clamping nut and having male threads threaded to the clamping nut, and a packing member located between an end of the corrugated pipe and the insertion portion to compress and deform the end of the corrugated pipe when the clamping nut is clamped and to provide a sealing between the end of the corrugated pipe and the insertion portion. As the packing member provides the sealing between the insertion portion of the connection body and the end of the corrugated pipe, a gap may minimally occur and reliability is increased.

  • Patent number: 9561584
Abstract: A swage or coupling tool is provided for use in coupling a fluid line to a compression fitting, a fluid coupler, or the like. The swage tool provides multiple degrees of freedom and/or multiple pivots or pivot joints to facilitate and maintain alignment of the jaws with the compression fitting during use of the swage tool to facilitate properly-aligned assembly of the compression fitting, and to limit bending or kinking of the fluid line when the fitting is being attached. The swage tool includes a pair of movable jaws, which may have stepped or rounded engagement surfaces, which may be forced against corresponding engagement surfaces of the compression fitting to securely assemble the fitting to the fluid line. The shape of the engagement surfaces facilitates properly-aligned assembly of the compression fitting, and limits bending or kinking of the fluid line when the fitting is being attached.

  • Patent number: 9539670
Abstract: An end-to-end tubular joint includes first locking pieces cut from the first tube and second locking pieces cut from the second tube, where the cuts have radial cut faces on the axially aligned cuts. The first and second locking pieces are interlocked with lateral extensions of the respective locking pieces bearing against one another and the radial cut surfaces distributed circumferentially around the joint so as to constrain relative movement between the parts. The first locking pieces are welded to the first tube and the second locking pieces are welded to the second tube to form a tube joint. An alternative forms cutouts in the first tube and fits locking pieces into the cutouts that are welded to a second member, such as a second tube or cylinder that fits into the first tube so as to form the tube joint.

  • Patent number: 9470044
Abstract: A process for treating a pin having an external threaded portion and a box having an internal threaded portion wherein the process provides a threadable joint having a high galling resistance. One embodiment of the present invention includes applying a lubricant on the threaded portion of at least one of the pin and box. The threadable joint is made up by threadably engaging the threaded portions of the pin and box to a recommended torque according to the American Petroleum Institute and then breaking out the threaded joint. The making up and breaking out step with lubricant applied on the threaded portion of at least one of the pin and box is performed a plurality of times. One of the threaded portions of the pin and box is then case hardened. The threadable joint made from this process is highly resistant to galling without the requirement of any lubricant.
