  • Patent number: 4970594
Abstract: A television video signal control system is disclosed in which an amplitude control signal and a clamp voltage control signal digitally detected in the automatic gain control and clamp voltage control of a television signal receiver respectively are applied alternately to a single D/A converter. The resulting analog signal is sampled and held alternately at holding circuits corresponding to the two control signals. A D/A converter for converting the two control signals from digital to analog state is thus saved as compared with the prior art.

  • Patent number: 4965670
Abstract: A video display control system with a relative position memory between a controller and a foreground memory to permit changing the correspondence between a control indicator, indicating a display line on a monitor, and that one of the blocks of foreground memory controlling the foreground characters to be displayed on that display monitor screen line. The controller indicator signal is provided directly to a background memory to indicate which block of data therein is to control the display for the graphics background on that screen line. The relative position memory circuit also sets the first column in a test line which is to display in an allocated portion of the monitor screen. The relative position memory and the foreground memory control a symbol memory, and the outputs from the foreground memory, the symbol memory and the background memory are collected by a display controller capable of operating a display monitor.

  • Patent number: 4963961
Abstract: A vertical motion detector for a TV system motion detector. The circuit operates by delaying each motion indicator signal by multiple units of the time required for one full horizontal line sweep. If vertical motion occurs, the delayed indicator will output from the delay at the same time another indicator occurs. These signals are fed to multiple AND gates so that several coincident signals are required to produce an alarm. A switching circuit permits selection of the number of vertical motion indicators required for an alarm.

  • Patent number: 4961114
Abstract: A digital memory delay line for a video border generator digitizes an insert video key signal and stores the digitized key signal in a digital memory. The locations in the memory are addressed sequentially in a continuous cycle so that as each location is addressed the portion of the key signal stored there is read out to reconstruct the key signal delayed by the cycle time, and a new portion of the key signal is written in. A clock for an address counter that provides addresses for access to the memory has a frequency that is a function of the number locations in the memory and the desired delay of the key signal. The delayed key signal from the memory is written back into the memory in parallel with the current key signal to provide a second output that is delayed by an additional address sequence cycle. The result is to reproduce the insert video key signal delayed for one horizontal line interval and for two horizontal line intervals.

  • Patent number: 4958229
Abstract: Area enlargement of television pictures can be achieved by stretching the picture at the same time in the vertical and horizontal directions. In the simplest case this can be accomplished by increasing the scanning amplitude. As the horizontal deflection consumes the greatest part of the energy converted in a picture reproduction apparatus and as it requires high-powered modular elements, an increased scanning amplitude would undesirably augment the energy consumption and further increase the demand on the performance of the modular elements in use. Image enlargement according to this invention is accomplished by storing the horizontally succeeding picture information of a just transmitted or reproduced scanning line and by subsequently displaying the sequential picture information of an area of the scanning line stretched over the whole horizontal period.

  • Patent number: 4954894
Abstract: A recursive noise-reducer for a high-definition TV system includes an interpolation device for performing two-frame interframe interpolation on the input digital signal. A delay device delays the input digital signal by one frame period and two frame period. An output signal from the delay device is separated into a one-frame-preceding signal component and a two-frame-preceding signal component. A first subtracter derives a difference between the input digital signal and the one-frame-preceding signal component. A filter filters an output signal from the first subtracter and passes a signal component having a recursion with a period corresponding to one frame. A second subtracter derives a difference between the input digital signal and the two-frame-preceding signal component. An adder adds the input digital signal, an output signal from the filter, and an output signal from the second subtracter.

  • Patent number: 4933748
Abstract: In an apparatus for processing a repeatedly reproduced single field of a color video signal, the phase of a chrominance subcarrier in the color video signal is shifted by 90 degrees at each field period, and the single repeatedly reproduced field of the color video signal is selectively delayed during alternate field periods for a delay time equal to one-half the horizontal scanning period so that the single field, as repeatedly reproduced and selectively delayed in two successive field periods, can function as interlaced fields of a frame while avoiding distrubance of the chrominance subcarrier due to the selective delaying in alternate field periods.

  • Patent number: 4926261
Abstract: A noise reduction circuit comprises a high pass filter for extracting a signal component containing noise from an input signal, a variable level limiter for limiting the level of the signal component extracted by the filter to produce a noise suppressing signal, and a level adjustor for adjusting the level of the noise suppressing signal. A level detector detects the level of the input signal, and a control signal generator generates first and second control signals based on the detected output of the level detector, supplies the first control signal to the level limiter so as to control the limit level thereof, and supplies the second control signal to the level adjustor so as to control the gain thereof. In a signal subtracter, the noise suppressing signal from the level adjustor is added with reversed polarity to the input signal to suppress the noise contained in the input signal and thereby produce a low-noise output signal.

  • Patent number: 4920408
Abstract: A composite color television signal is delayed one horizontal line period by a first 1H-delay circuit and then applied to a first intermediate value circuit via a first bandpass filter for passing frequency components in the vicinity of the color subcarrier frequency and a first inverter on one hand and via a second bandpass filter for passing frequency components in the vicinity of the color subcarrier frequency on the other hand. The first intermediate value circuit derives components of the two input signals which have the same waveform at the same time. The output signal of the first intermediate value circuit is directly applied to a second intermediate value circuit acting like the first intermediate value circuit on one hand and via a second 1H-delay circuit and a second inverter on the other hand.
