  • Patent number: 5327670
Abstract: A trolling lure includes multiple spoons or spinners attached in series along a flexible cable leader. The spoons or spinners may be of the same size or of different sizes, and the leader also includes several series of plastic or glass beads along the leader to provide color. Some of the beads may also serve as bearings for the rotational action of the spoons or spinners. Spacing of the spoons or spinners, beads, and other components is achieved by crimping or swaging sleeves onto the multiple strand cable leader at various points. The spoons or spinners are preferably of aluminum, to provide relatively light weight for slower trolling speeds, and are preferably provided with a somewhat porous surface by weathering, knurling, or abrading the surface. The porosity thus achieved provides a more realistic and less reflective surface, and further provides better retention of a fish attracting scent thereon.

The armrest apparatus includes a base (31) formed for mounting to the wheelchair frame and an arm support assembly (32) having a height-adjustable armrest post (33). Interdisposed between the base and the support assembly is an elongated mounting assembly (34). A locking mechanism (37) is movably mounted to a mounting end (35) of the mounting assembly between a locked condition and a unlocked condition. In the locked condition, the mounting end is locked to the base member, while in the unlocked condition, the mounting end is released from the base. A securing mechanism (40) is movably mounted to an engaging end (36) of the mounting assembly between a secured condition and an unsecured condition. In the secured condition, the armrest post is locked to the mounting assembly, while in the unsecured condition, height adjusting movement of the armrest post is permitted relative to the engaging end.

  • Patent number: 5325619
Abstract: Fishing trawl device comprised of an outer net and inner net of differing mesh sizes that excludes undesirable objects and organisms incidental to trawling. The device consists of an outer net of net mesh size as may be necessary or legally prescribed to contain a particular species and an inner net of larger net mesh size relative to the netting comprising the outer net, as may be necessary or legally prescribed to filter and exclude objects or organisms. The outer and inner nets are joined at the forward extremity of the device and are connected at the aft end of the inner net to an opening in the body portion of the outer net by an inner tubular section of fabric or netting. The inner tubular section of fabric or netting prevents escape of the target species by protecting the opening in the body portion of the outer net, while facilitating the exclusion of objects or organisms.

  • Patent number: 5321905
Abstract: A device for animating a fishing lure comprising a section of wire which carries a pair of saucer-shaped disks constrained by a plurality of beads attached on the section of wire. Each of the disks has a mounting hole receiving the section of wire and a plurality of apertures spaced circumferentially and radially about the hole to permit water to flow through and between the disks as they are pulled through the water. The disks are rotatably mounted on the section of wire such that their respective apertures are capable of intermittent alignment which allows the device to rest in a stable mode between random, angular oscillations. The random, angular oscillations produced by the device will animate a fishing lure in a manner which simulates the movements of a water creature.

  • Patent number: 5321903
Abstract: A compact signaling device mounted on a fishing pole for visually alerting a fisherman when a fish strikes the fishing line. The device comprises an electrical circuit including an LED, a battery, a switch for opening and closing the electrical circuit and a normally-closed pivoting arm that mechanically opens the switch when a portion of fishline is placed under the pivoting arm. When tension on the fishline increases sufficiently to remove it from under the pivoting arm, such as when a fish strikes the fishing line, the pivoting arm moves to close the switch thus illuminating the LED and alerting the fisherman. Also, the device has a rack and pinion gear or, alternatively, a threaded thumb screw for adjusting the pivoting arm so that the tension required to remove fishline from the pivoting arm can be varied in preselected increments.

  • Patent number: 5309668
Abstract: A self-contained entry device for use with a bottle for preferably trapping roaches and similar crawling insects. The entry device comprises a mesh material shaped to form a truncated cone having a narrow strip extending from the larger opening of the cone. The smaller opening of the cone, preferably having an oval cross section, is inserted firmly into the mouth of a bottle or other receptacle containing bait for the insects. The narrow strip, extending from the larger, non-inserted opening, functions as a ramp allowing insects to crawl into the entry device and subsequently gain entrance into the bottle. Once inside the bottle, insects cannot maneuver themselves back through the smaller opening due to its size, shape and position within the bottle.

  • Patent number: 5307862
Abstract: Lateral frames of the disclosed mold can be replaced easily and rapidly without disassembling a continuous casting machine, so as to improve the operational efficiency and to reduce the cost. The mold comprises a fixed longitudinal frame and a movable longitudinal frame which can be opened/closed by remote control, and a pair of fixed lateral frame members to which variable lateral frame members securely joined with lateral copper plates are detachably attached. A bracket provided on each of the variable lateral frame members is brought into engagement with a bracket receiving recess formed in each of the fixed lateral frame members in order to position the lower end portions of the lateral frame members. After that, the upper end portions of them are securely fixed by clamping means. Thus, the lateral frame members are integrally joined so that a mold cooling water supply/drain pipe and a spray water supply pipe for a foot shoe are connected to water conduits in the variable lateral frame member.

  • Patent number: 5305543
Abstract: The present invention is an improved slip sinker that consists of a unique non-concentrical, asymmetrical shape. The shape of the invention is basically conical, with one surface edge cylindrical, and the rest of the shape described by a paraboloid surface. The fishing line tunnel does not form an axial or axis of gravity for the unique shape. This combination of features allows the angler both to more successfully work the fishing tackle through submerged obstructions and reduce or eliminate fishing line twisting.

  • Patent number: 5301457
Abstract: A chaise lounge and upright chair, representing two embodiments of the invention, each having a frame with tubular components forming a primary air plenum having a predetermined orientation with respect to an occupant in a normal position sitting on the upright chair or lying on the chaise lounge. A blower unit is connected to the air plenum and the tubular components have a plurality of air nozzles with axes pointing in specific directions to produce air stream barriers which cover and bathe the occupant of the chair. Opposed rows of air nozzles, on opposite sides of the occupant, have axes pointing outwardly from the chair and laterally inwardly to intersect at approximately a vertical centerline plane of the chair to cover the occupant between the two rows of nozzles. Additional nozzles protect other parts of the occupant so that in both embodiments, air stream barriers are produced which protect the occupant from head to feet.
