  • Patent number: 5154016
Abstract: An improved angling device operable under physically autonomous, remote control by an operator, comprising an unmanned flotation platform including remotely operable propulsion and directional controls for selectively positioning the flotation platform under the remote, physically autonomous control of the operator, at a desired location on a surface of a body of water associated with fish habitat; and downward-looking sonar supported in buoyant relation on the platform and operable to provide intelligible feedback to the operator, based on sonar-sensed signals relating to that fish habitat. The combination of the improved angling device can include a terminal tackle depth control supported in buoyant relation on the platform, for selective adjustable positioning of the terminal tackle at desired depths under the remote, physically autonomous control of the operator.

  • Patent number: 5152093
Abstract: A fishing tip-up construction for a rod on which is mounted a supporting stand having a pair of legs movable between retracted and extended positions. The rod terminates at one end in a downwardly bent grip which, together with the legs, forms a stable three-point support for the rod. A fishing line is wound on a reel that is supported on the rod between the grip and the stand. A signal device is movable from an inactive position to a signalling position in response to the application in one direction of a force on the fishing line. The force required to effect movement of the signalling device to the signalling position is adjustable.

  • Patent number: 5152453
Abstract: The present invention relates to processes and apparatus for welding or joining metal parts which comprise moving a welding torch in a direction along a joint between said parts, causing a molten pool of metal with said welding torch along the joint and directing a laminar flow of inert fluid toward a freshly welded area behind said welding torch in the form of a trailing shield whereby the freshly welded area is protected from the surrounding air during its solidification. The laminar flow or inert fluid may also be directed along the joint ahead of the welding torch in the form of a leading shield such that turbulence in and around the joint caused by a high welding speed is reduced, thereby preventing oxygen entrainment in said molten pool of metal. The laminar flow of inert fluid is usually provided through at least one diffuser having at least one porous diffusing surface which is generally provided with a screen and/or a spatter shield.

  • Patent number: 5152446
Abstract: A press for welding magnetic yokes comprises first and second frames movable toward and away from each other, on which there are defined respective confronting and parallel pressure surfaces (12, 35), a motive means (50) acting between the frames (11, 30) to produce the aforesaid movements, and a presser (14, 36) associated with each of the pressure surfaces (12, 35) to define a saddle-piece for receiving the yoke (3). Between at least one of the pressers (14, 36) and its respective pressure surface (12, 35) there intervening an elastically deformable pillow (39) functioning as an adjuster of the deformation under load undergone by the corresponding pressure surface (12, 35). This pillow is composed of an elastic material which has a behavior under load, within a predetermined range of specific loads, that approaches a hydrostatic behavior, that is, such that for a given increase in the deformation there corresponds a proportionally low pressure increase.

  • Patent number: 5146708
Abstract: In a trap used to capture small fur animals by the body or the head, a trigger is necessary to keep the jaws open. In my invention, the trigger is made of one piece of metal. The above mentioned trap will be activated when an animal steps on the piece of metal (invention). This pressure will activate the jaws that are held in an open position due to the pressure of one or more springs.

  • Patent number: 5145106
Abstract: A welding apparatus and method characterized by an electrically activated high temperature igniter with a pair of lead wires adapted to be connected to a high energy source of current and a high resistance bridge between the leads. The bridge is coated with an ignition material comprising a mixture of fine aluminum, one or more metal oxides or oxygen containing compounds and a binder. The welding apparatus has a vessel filled with exothermic material. When the lead wires are supplied with a high energy electrical current, the lead wires cause the ignition material to ignite in turn causing the exothermic material to ignite. If the coated bridge wire is positioned above the exothermic material, the igniter will broadcast multiple points of ignition over the top of the exothermic material.

  • Patent number: 5143019
Abstract: An impoundment for farming shrimp located in the proximity of salt and fresh water sources defined by a retaining wall defining a substantially rectangular area with a channel adjacent to the inner side of said wall and a central portion having its bottom surface above the plane of the bottom surface of the channel. One reservoir for storing salt water is located in a location of said rectangular area in close proximity to the salt water source and it also discharges the salt water contained therein into the rectangular area. Another reservoir for storing fresh water is located in the rectangular area in close proximity to the fresh water source. Another pumping assembly is used for pumping the fresh water from the fresh water source into said second reservoir means. A barrier divides the rectangular area so that two sub-areas are defined and one of the subareas being farther away from the reservoirs includes an opening of relatively small diameter.

  • Patent number: 5131583
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a high pressure fluid supply pipe of a double pipe structure in which an outer pipe is tightly fit over the outer circumference of an inner pipe, wherein the method comprises a step of forming a double pipe by tightly fitting an inner pipe with an outer pipe having a thermal expansion coefficient greater than that of the inner pipe while putting a brazing material therebetween, and a step of subjecting the double pipe to a heat treatment and then to a gradual cooling treatment to join and tightly fit the inner pipe and the outer pipe integrally to each other, thereby providing at least the inner surface of the inner pipe with a compressive residual stress. The resistance to high inner pressure can be improved and destructive strength, in particular, fatigue resistance to the repeated inner pressure can remarkably be improved.
