    Abstract: In a process for the production of alkyl phenols by alkylating phenols with olefins in the presence of an aluminum phenoxide catalyst, removal of spent catalyst by adding water to reaction mixture and filtering is hastened by the presence of a neutral monomeric inorganic salt of polyvalent anion and an alkali metal, alkaline earth metal or ammonium cation.
