    Abstract: A journal bearing (51) has spiral grooves (63, 64) on opposite ends (61, 62) of the journal bearing (51) as to face towards the opposing shaft surface and generate a flow of oil outwardly of the journal bearing (51) during shaft rotation. One bearing end has a clockwise spiral groove (63) which pumps lubricant fluid in a first direction. The opposite bearing end includes a reverse-directed, counterclockwise spiral groove (64) which pumps fluid in a second direction, opposite to the first direction. During clockwise rotation of the shaft (21), the lubricating oil flows in the first and second directions to lubricate the turbine and compressor sides of a turbocharger. The journal bearing (51) also may be flipped endwise so as to function during opposite, counterclockwise shaft rotation.

    Abstract: ZnO sputtering is performed while a rolling body is housed in a basket made of a metal wire and is rotated. By setting a ratio of a mesh size of the basket to a diameter of the rolling body in a range of 40 to 95%, fine and uniform ZnO coating can be formed on a surface of the rolling body. By using the rolling body with ZnO coating prepared in this manner in a bearing which is rotated at high speed in a high-load state, a friction coefficient can significantly be lowered in comparison with a case of no coating.

    Abstract: An adjustable lubrication module of a linear guideway includes an end lid disposed at a slider and an oil scraper disposed at the end lid. The end lid has therein two opposing backflow-chambers. A feed-hole disposed between the backflow-chambers and an oil-guiding conduit disposed below the feed-hole are disposed on the end lid. Communication between the feed-hole and the oil-guiding conduit is achieved by a primary oiling-channel. Communications between the oil-guiding conduit and the backflow-chambers are achieved by a secondary oiling-channel. Therefore, oiling-channel adjustment performed on the adjustable lubrication module operating in conjunction with the linear guideway does not entail demounting the end lid from the slider, thereby preventing ball missing. The feed-hole and the oil-guiding conduit are not disposed at the junction of the end lid and the slider; hence, lubrication oil is prevented from flowing over the gap between the end lid and the slider.

A fitting portion is fixed to an outer ring and a seal portion contacts an inner ring. In the outer side of the seal portion an auxiliary lip projects without contacting the inner ring and in the inner side a main lip projects contacting the inner ring. An annular groove is formed between the main lip and a thick wall portion thus forming a flexible portion having a small wall thickness at a root portion of the main lip. The auxiliary lip inhibits intrusion of foreign substances and moisture, reduces external pressure acting on the main lip and ensures the sealing performance of the main lip. The flexible portion reduces the sliding resistance of the main lip.
