  • Patent number: 6393799
Abstract: A box opening machine adapted to opening a pre-packaged box containing coin rolls and emptying the coin rolls into a coin roll cassette. The invention provides a platform with a box slicer. The box is pushed over a platform work surface whereby the box bottom is sliced opened. The sliced box is then slid over a loading hopper wherein the box contents are emptied. The coin rolls from the box are then channeled into a coin roll cassette. The empty box is discarded.

  • Patent number: 6390751
Abstract: A fluid power load-clamping system includes at least one fluid valve for variably regulating the maximum fluid pressure causing closure of the clamp. Preferably the valve increases the maximum fluid pressure automatically in relation to the measured magnitude of the weight of the load to regulate the load-gripping force. A controller causes the valve to permit a relatively high maximum fluid pressure as the clamp closes toward the load to enable high initial clamp closure speed. Thereafter the valve automatically reduces the maximum pressure as the clamping surfaces close into a predetermined relationship with the load, and then increases the maximum pressure to regulate the gripping force. Other preferable features include continuous weight-responsive automatic regulation of the gripping pressure while the load is supported by the clamp, and compensation of the weight measurement for the longitudinally-extensible position of the lifting mechanism, to maximize the accuracy of the load-weight measurement.

  • Patent number: 6390754
Abstract: A closed-type cassette is mounted on a cassette stand disposed in a working region at a position corresponding to an opening formed in a wall separating the working region from a loading region. When the cassette is mounted on the cassette stand, a detecting device gives a signal to that effect to a controller. Then, the controller closes a valve to interrupt nitrogen gas supply into the loading region. A lid of the cassette is opened 20 to 30 sec after the interruption of nitrogen gas supply into the loading region and, then, nitrogen gas supply is resumed. The pressure difference between the loading region and the interior of the cassette is decreased by interrupting nitrogen gas supply into the loading region, so that the lid can be easily opened.

  • Patent number: 6390758
Abstract: Side-loading refuse vehicles are disclosed including an offset or recessed hopper section having at least one recessed side which accommodates a loading bin or bucket which is moveable between a lowered position and a raised dumping position. Followers attached to the bucket on each end are engaged in candy cane shaped guide channels situated at the front and rear of the hopper. The guide channels are angled away from the base of the hopper and curved into the top of the hopper to guide the bucket in an angled and arcuate path over the sidewall of the hopper which is built to accommodate the bucket. In some embodiments, a bin handler is built in to the bucket or an automated arm is provided for dumping refuse cans or containers directly into the hopper. The refuse vehicles may have side-loading buckets on one or both sides of the vehicle and the vehicles may be single or multiple compartment vehicles.

  • Patent number: 6390761
Abstract: An articulating, telescopic ramp for mounting on the top surface of the cargo bed of a truck, trailer or van. A base assembly 20 attaches to the cargo bed. A pivoting frame 40 is pivotally attached to the base assembly. A telescopic frame 60 is positioned on the pivoting frame so that it travels parallel to it. Lifting cylinders 46 attached to the forward end of the pivoting frame and to the forward end of the base assembly lift the forward end of the pivoting frame thus pivoting it relative to the base assembly. A pulling system 90 consisting of a rod less cylinder 93 and a traveling hub 92 is used for loading and unloading cargo on and off the ramp A modified tailgate 122 allows the ramp to reside and telescope forward and aft under it.

  • Patent number: 6379107
Abstract: A method of introducing/discharging a heavy article is provided that allows for introducing and/or discharging a coil-shape heavy article to and from a transporting receptacle. The method includes utilizing a pallet, a stage, and a carrying vehicle to introduce/discharge the coil-shape heavy article. A coil-shape heavy article is secured to the pallet using a securing member and is transported, while secured to the pallet, between the stage, which is secured to the transporting receptacle, and the transporting receptacle. The stage includes a table having a height that is adjustable relative the floor surface of the transporting receptacle. Movement of the pallet between the stage and the transporting receptacle is performed by levitating a support frame of the carrying vehicle on which the pallet has been positioned using a controllable discharge of gas exiting from exhaust nozzles of the carrying vehicle.

  • Patent number: 6375408
Abstract: A die-level test and burn-in flipping tray. A tray having a plurality of pockets adapted to receive die-level carriers formed thereon is provided. The pockets are defined by four risers, one riser defining each corner of the pocket and a support at the base of each riser to support a die-level carrier disposed within the pocket. The riser and the tray are molded such that a second tray may be mated with the original tray, the second tray having pockets in one-to-one correspondence with the first tray. The mated tray pair may then be inverted causing carriers in pockets of the first tray to transition under the influence of gravity to corresponding pockets of the second tray in an orientation inverted about the z-axis.

  • Patent number: 6371713
Abstract: A substrate processing apparatus includes a transport robot (TR1) formed with a telescopic vertical movement mechanism of a so-called telescopically nestable multi-tier construction. A drive mechanism (D1) is initially driven to move a support member (48) upwardly to simultaneously elevate a vertical movement member (42d). As the vertical movement member (42d) rises, a pulley (47c) simultaneously moves upwardly. As the pulley (47c) moves upwardly, a vertical movement member (42c) is lifted upwardly by a belt (L1). Similar actions elevate a pair of transport arms (31a, 31b) provided on the top of a vertical movement member (42a). The increase in the number of tiers of the nestable multi-tier structure precludes the increase in height of the transport robot (TR1) in its retracted position.

  • Patent number: 6354785
Abstract: The invention is a device for loading and unloading automobiles from an auto-transport vehicle. The device includes a platform and a telescoping arm mechanism. The platform moves back and forth and up and down continuously in approximately a horizontal position. The platform moves on rails that run from the front to the back and below the chassis of a auto-transport vehicle. When the front end of the platform reaches the back end of the chassis, the platform moves down, in a horizontal position, until it reaches the ground. The rotatable base of the telescoping arm mechanism is attached to the back of the chassis. The front end of the telescoping arm mechanism contacts the bottom of the platform at the back of the chassis to support the platform as it moves back and forth along the rails. The telescoping arm mechanism also supports and moves the platform up and down while maintaining the platform in the horizontal position.
