  • Patent number: 6062799
Abstract: An apparatus for automatic loading or unloading printed circuit boards (PCBs) for semiconductor modules is disclosed. The apparatus employs an elastic jig carrier into which the PCBs are loaded. The jig carrier includes movable clamps for fixing the PCBs by elastic force. A jig opener of the apparatus applies opening force, in the reverse direction of the elastic force, to the movable clamps so that the PCBs can be loaded into or unloaded from the jig carrier by a picker. The jig carrier is transferred along a conveyor belt, while the PCBs are supplied from a PCB stage such as a tray to the jig carrier. The apparatus may further comprise a gripper and a rotator. The gripper grips the upright PCBs and the rotator rotates them to be horizontal, so that the picker can pick up the horizontal PCBs. The apparatus may also comprise an aligner for exact alignment of the PCBs in the jig carrier. A method for loading or unloading the PCBs into or from the jig carrier is also disclosed in connection with the apparatus.

  • Patent number: 6059517
Abstract: An end effector in a transport module includes a body and a web defined by a panel and first and second flanges at opposite panel ends. The first flange is attached to the body. The second flange is displaced from, and transverse to, the panel. Rods extending through the flanges into the body rigidify the web. Springs disposed in holes in the body and extending between the first flange and the body balance the web relative to the body. The second flange and a ledge on the body adjacent the first flange support the substrate opposite ends with the central portion of the substrate displaced from the body and the web. A robotic assembly formed from a plurality of arms is coupled to the body. The arms are pivotable relative to one another and to the body between contracted and expanded relationships. With the arms contracted, the body and the web are rotatable in the transport module between positions facing the cassette module or the process module.

  • Patent number: 6059512
Abstract: A manual lifting and moving apparatus comprises a rigid bar having a pair of rollers on an axle at one end and a handle at the other end. Struts pivoted to the roller axle have a boom pivotally connected to their opposite ends. One end of the boom is received in a channel mounted on the rigid bar and connectible to the channel by a pin extending through a pair of aligned holes in the sidewalls of the channel, there being multiple pairs of aligned holes to provide plural selectable attachment points. The other end of the boom has a hook which can be engaged with a loading ramp adapter or used to lift various objects. The boom can also be secured in a collapsed position along the rigid bar, allowing the apparatus to be used as a pry bar, to maneuver a skid truck or lift a material-containing drum, and also allowing attachments, such as a hand truck adapter or a pallet truck adapter to be connected to the channel and to one end of the boom.

  • Patent number: 6048157
Abstract: An improved method and apparatus for emptying a load of turkeys from multilayer containers is disclosed. Each container or coop includes a liftable gate that enables access into the container and a slidably moveable push member that may also comprise the back wall of the container. The push member is moved from the rear of the container and toward the access port thereof. As the push member moves and engages turkeys in the coop, the turkeys are moved by the push member across the container floor and out of the access port onto a series of conveyors. The push members of a plurality of coops can be interconnected to simultaneously unload a plurality of containers. The mechanisms for moving the push member may be mounted externally of the coop structure. The same mechanism may also be used for returning the push member to and for locking it in its initial transport position.

  • Patent number: 6042328
Abstract: A lifting device for attachment to a vehicle trailer hitch or the like. The device includes a hitch bar for attachment to the trailer hitch. A lateral extension arm is mounted on the hitch bar and a riser arm is rotatably mounted to the lateral extension arm. A boom arm is mounted on the riser arm, the boom arm having load attachment elements for attaching a load thereto. Also provided is a rotating element attached to the lateral extension arm and the boom arm for rotating the riser arm about the lateral extension arm to raise and lower the riser arm relative to the hitch bar. Raising and lowering of the riser arm moves the boom arm to transcribe a predetermined arc lying in a vertical plane. It is preferred to have the hitch bar centered on a platform centerline wherein the vertical plane intersects the centerline. The predetermined arc may be from about 130 degrees to about 150 degrees, and preferably 140 degrees, with respect to the bed of the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 6042326
Abstract: In a grain cart equipped with a lower horizontally-disposed input drag auger, a vertically disposed lift auger, and an upper horizontally disposed discharge auger, a unique drive train is used. The lift auger and the discharge auger can be activated independently of the input auger in order to empty their contents on start-up of the grain cart discharge system. By so doing the strain on the drive train is considerably lessened thus permitting very large grain carts to be emptied without damage to the drive train system. A hydraulic cylinder activates a belt-tightener between a drive sheave and a driven sheave. The driven sheave is attached to the axis of the drag auger. When the hydraulic cylinder is extended, pressure exerted on the belt causes the input auger to rotate and to feed the lift and discharge augers.

  • Patent number: 6032789
Abstract: A tubular conveyor belt and a method for its manufacture, wherein the tubular conveyor belt is composed of a support belt, and wherein the support belt is inseparably connected along both of its longitudinal sides to a drive belt. When constructing the conveyor belt, the drive belts can be placed flat on top of each other, so that the support belt encloses the material being transported. By dividing the tubular conveyor belt into a support belt, on the one hand, and two drive belts at the longitudinal sides, on the other hand, the conveying function is uncoupled from the drive function.

  • Patent number: 6024535
Abstract: A forklift having a frame supported by front and rear wheels is mounted on a carrier by inserting its forks into pockets mounted on the frame of the carrier vehicle and lifting the wheels of the forklift off the ground. A pair of wheel abutments on the underside of the carrier serve as abutments for the front wheels of the forklift to prevent its forward movement. A combined lock and support structure connected to the frame of the carrier prevents separation of the forklift from the carrier after the hydraulic system of the forklift is neutralized and all pressure on the forks, carriage, and mast are relieved of support forces.
