  • Patent number: 6307119
Abstract: A disposable absorbent article such as a training pant includes wetness indicating graphics that provide an interactive training aid. The interactive graphics can include a permanent character graphic and one or more active object graphics, which “appear” or “disappear” from view in response to exposure to urine or the environment. Various mechanisms are employed to conceptually and/or visually separate the permanent character graphic from the interactive wetness indicating graphic, such that the character graphic remains independent in the child's mind from the process of toilet training.

  • Patent number: 6297424
Abstract: A disposable absorbent article such as a training pant includes wetness indicating graphics that provide an interactive training aid. The interactive graphics can include a permanent character graphic and one or more active object graphics, which “appear” or “disappear” from view in response to exposure to urine or the environment. The interactive graphics can also include a story line in which the permanent character graphic is illustrated performing an activity involving the active object graphic. The wetness indicating feature and the graphic story line allow the caregiver to interact with the child in an educational and motivational manner to enhance the toilet training process.

  • Patent number: 6293931
Abstract: An absorbent article 10 which has a dimension in a longitudinal direction which is greater than its dimension in a transverse dimension. The absorbent article 10 comprises a liquid pervious top sheet 1 a liquid impervious back sheet 2 vertically below the top sheet, and an absorbent core 3 provided between the top sheet and the back sheet. The absorbent core has a first unconstrained form in which a section 6 of the absorbent core forms a protrusion from the remainder of the absorbent core in the vertical direction towards the top sheet, and a second unconstrained form in which the absorbent core has no substantive protrusion in the vertical direction. The absorbent core is capable of being changed between the first and second forms.

  • Patent number: 6290685
Abstract: An active fluid transport device (10, 40, 54, 60) that includes a layer (12) of polymeric material. The layer (12) has a structured surface (13) that includes a plurality of substantially discrete flow channels (16). The flow channels (16) have a minimum aspect ratio of about 10 to 1 and a hydraulic radius no greater than about 300 micrometers. The device may also include a connector (20, 55) that allows a potential source (14) external to the structured surface (13) to be placed in fluid communication with the discrete flow channels (16). The potential source (14) promotes fluid movement through the flow channels (16) from a first location to a second location.

  • Patent number: 6281407
Abstract: There is provided a personal care product having a drying agent incorporated into it. The drying agent can reduce or control the relative humidity in the air enclosed by a personal care product significantly. Such a drying agent may be a desiccant or humectant or a combination of both. The drying agent may function using chemical or physical means and may be in fibrous, particulate or other form. The reduction of the relative humidity within a personal care product will reduce skin hydration which is believed to reduce redness and irritation due to contact with fluids.

  • Patent number: 6270487
Abstract: An absorbent article, such as a diaper, containing cuffs with a skin care composition disposed thereon. The skin care composition disposed on the cuffs is transferable to the wearers skin by normal contact and/or wearer motion and/or body heat. The cuffs are at least partially assembled using an oil resistant adhesive that is both material friendly and process friendly.
