  • Patent number: 10778979
Abstract: Dynamic Range Adjustment can be used to correct distortions that can occur when the dynamic range of the colors in video are transformed. In various examples, Dynamic Range Adjustment can be performed using a piecewise linear function that takes as input a range of color values. Parameters describing the piecewise linear function can be encoded into a bitstream, and the parameters can be used by a decoding process to reconstruct the piecewise linear function. To improve encoding efficiency, techniques can be applied by which redundant values in the parameters need not be encoded when the range of input values for the piecewise linear function can be divided into portions having equal lengths. The decoding process can derive the omitted values from values that are provided, and can apply the piecewise linear function to decoded video data to perform Dynamic Range Adjustment.

  • Patent number: 10752171
Abstract: A cleaning device for cleaning a lens of a motor vehicle camera using a cleaning head, which includes hydraulic drive members that drive the camera or the cleaning head. The hydraulic drive members are able to generate a relative longitudinal displacement of the cleaning head with respect to the camera between a passive position in which the cleaning head is positioned outside of the image-capturing field of the camera and an active position in which the cleaning head extends facing the lens so as to allow cleaning liquid to be ejected towards the lens. The hydraulic drive members include a chamber in which a piston secured to the camera or to the cleaning head slides under the effect of the pressure of a liquid circulating between a first orifice and a second orifice which are formed respectively in the chamber.

  • Patent number: 10757420
Abstract: Techniques are described for using an inter-intra-prediction block. A video coder may generate a first prediction block according to an intra-prediction mode and generate a second prediction block according to an inter-prediction mode. The video coder may weighted combine, such as based on the intra-prediction mode, the two prediction blocks to generate an inter-intra-prediction block (e.g., final prediction block). In some examples, an inter-intra candidate is identified in a list of candidate motion vector predictors, and an inter-intra-prediction block is used based on identification of the inter-intra candidate in the list of candidate motion vector predictors.

Abstract: Identifying a person committing a crime in video data captured by a security device. An information request message identifying the video data and a need for information about the video data is received. When the video data is determined suitable for sharing within a geographic network, an access control of the video data is set to allow a client device registered with the geographic network to display the video data. A display control value of the video data is set to direct display of a label with the video data to indicate the need for the information. A rating of usefulness of the information received from the client device is determined and a first value is added to an account associated with the client device based at least in part upon the rating.

  • Patent number: 10728554
Abstract: The quantization parameter QP is well-known in digital video compression as an indication of picture quality. Digital symbols representing a moving image are quantized with a quantizing step that is a function QSN of the quantization parameter QP, which function QSN has been normalized to the most significant bit of the bit depth of the digital symbols. As a result, the effect of a given QP is essentially independent of bit depth a particular QP value has a standard effect on image quality, regardless of bit depth. The invention is useful, for example, in encoding and decoding at different bit depths, to generate compatible, bitstreams having different bit depths, and to allow different bit depths for different components of a video signal by compressing each with the same fidelity (i.e., the same QP).

  • Patent number: 10715831
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for stereoscopic image encoding and decoding are described. Left and right eye images are encoded following an entropy reduction operation being applied to one of the eye images when there is a difference between the left and right images of an image pair. Information about regions of negative parallax within the entropy reduced image of an image pair is encoded along with the images. Upon decoding a sharpening filter is applied to the image in an image pair which was subjected to the entropy reduction operation. In addition edge enhancement filtering is performed on the regions of the recovered entropy reduced image which are identified in the encoded image data as regions of negative parallax. Interleaving of left and right eye images at the input of the encoder combined with entropy reduction allows for efficient encoding, storage, and transmission of 3D images.

  • Patent number: 10708484
Abstract: Time-of-flight cameras may be synchronized where the fields of view of the time-of-flight cameras overlap. The time-of-flight cameras may be programmed within intervals of time for illuminating their respective fields of view that do not conflict with one another. When a first time-of-flight camera illuminates a first field of view that overlaps with a second field of view of a second time-of-flight camera, and the second time-of-flight camera detects reflected light from the illumination, the second time-of-flight camera may determine a time to illuminate the second field of view based on the reflected light. A time-of-flight camera may include an image sensor modified to include one or more modulated light sensors among an array of photoreceptors. A modulation frequency or illumination interval may be selected for the time-of-flight camera based on modulation frequencies or illumination intervals of other cameras, as determined based on data captured by the modulated light sensors.
