  • Patent number: 8270357
Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for EV-DO femtocells to use proximity to prioritize service to access terminals. In an embodiment, a femtocell assigns a first range of MAC IDs to a first group of access terminals, where the first group is those access terminals that are less than a threshold distance from the femtocell. The femtocell assigns a second range of MAC IDs to a second group of access terminals, where the second group is those access terminals that are more than the threshold distance from the femtocell. The femtocell repeatedly transmits (1) a first reverse activity bit (RAB) to the first group and (2) a second RAB to the second group, and measures reverse noise rise (RNR) on a femtocell carrier. If the measured RNR is greater than the threshold, the femtocell responsively (1) clears the first RAB and (2) sets the second RAB.

  • Patent number: 8218499
Abstract: The present invention concerns a method for optimizing ROHC RTP (Robust Header Compression Real Time Protocol) compression applied to IP header of data packets stream so as to use more compact formats enable to remain in a steady state, to never discard received packet, and to serve radio resources without requiring to modify ROHC specification. In the method, when handover or mobility procedure is started, new reference values are normally added to a sliding compression window, but no reference value is removed from the window as long as the handover or mobility procedure is on going. After the handover or mobility procedure is complete, when the number of values transmitted on the new radio link are appropriate to cope against the error properties on the new link, all older values can be removed at once from the compression window, thereby reverting to normal window operation.

  • Patent number: 8122086
Abstract: Functionality is described herein for presenting a sequence of messages to the user arranged in chronological order. The functionality additionally annotates the messages with identifiers. Some of the identifiers convey the manner in which the identified messages relate to other messages in the sequence. The functionality therefore uniquely combines the merits of both a flat paradigm for organizing messages (by virtue of the arrangement of the messages in chronological order) and a nested paradigm for organizing messages (by virtue of the linking identifiers added to the messages).

  • Patent number: 8107419
Abstract: Bandwidth utilization over bearers in a fixed cellular network is improved by reducing the amount of data required to be transported. At each side of the bearer, data blocks (such as Iub blocks) are received and, prior to transmitting them across the bearer, they are analyzed to determine if they can be modified in such a manner to decrease the amount of data. On the other end of the bearer, received blocks are analyzed to determine if they have been modified, and if so, the blocks are reconstructed to a format that may not be identical to the original format but, that is operationally equivalent from a user perspective. The modifications to the blocks can be based on the type of data being transmitted. For instance, if the data is for a video session or and audio session, the modifications can be different. Information regarding the reconstruction of the blocks can be sent to the other end of the bearer as a part of the data or through other channels.

  • Patent number: 8086663
Abstract: If an instruction of a predetermined function is given at a device A in a network, the device A issues a notification request for inquiring whether or not it is possible to execute the function to devices B, C and D in a list of devices capable of cooperating with the device A. The device B receives the request and if the device B can not execute the function, then the device B issues a notification request including the search path of the device B to devices E, F and G included in a list of the device B. If the device B receives a response including a search path through the device E that can execute the function, from the device E, then the search path of the device B is added to the response and the response is sent to the device A.

  • Patent number: 8065410
Abstract: A system provides an agent that executes remotely from a web site and can measure performance associated with the web site. The agent obtains a script containing at least one transaction to be performed with the web site. The transaction(s) define a sequence of page requests identifying web pages to obtain from the web site. The agent executes the script to perform the transaction with the web site. Performance of the transaction includes retrieving the sequence of web pages and identifying respective performance metrics including performance metrics associated with obtaining respective objects defined within each web page, and performance metrics associated with obtaining a complete version of each web page. The agent transmits the performance metrics associated with execution of the transaction defined by the script to a repository.

  • Patent number: 8064393
Abstract: Provided is a wireless communication apparatus by which reduction of a diversity gain can be suppressed at minimum in the case of employing a repetition technology in multicarrier communication. In the wireless communication apparatus (100), repetition sections (102-1 to 102-n) repeat each data symbol inputted from modulating sections (101-1 to 101-n) to create a plurality of identical data symbols. An allocating section (103) outputs each data symbol to a multiplexing section (105) by allocating the data symbol to a plurality of subcarriers constituting an OFDM symbol. At this time, the allocating section (103) allocates at least one of the repeated identical symbols to a subcarrier different from a subcarrier to which the symbol is allocated in an adjacent sector.

  • Patent number: 8055698
Abstract: A network recycle bin is used to store deleted files in a managed directory that is available across a network connection. Files stored in a shared directory or other network-accessible file storage system are moved to the managed directory upon deletion. Because the managed folder is part of the network-accessible file system, any permissions, authorizations, or settings for files may be unaltered after movement into the managed folder. In some embodiments, a local recycle bin may be merged with a network recycle bin from a user experience.

  • Patent number: 8036169
Abstract: A method of improving a high-speed downlink operation in CELL_FACH state for a network terminal of a wireless communications system includes using a first function but not using a second function when a user equipment, hereinafter called UE, initiates a cell update procedure. The network terminal wirelessly communicates with the UE, and the network terminal and the UE both support the high-speed downlink operation in CELL_FACH state. The first function is used for allocating a dedicated HS-DSCH radio network transaction identifier (H-RNTI) to the UE, so as to manage the UE to perform the high-speed downlink operation in CELL_FACH based on the dedicated H-RNTI. The second function is used for not allocating the dedicated H-RNTI to the UE.
