Patent number: 11651441Abstract: Methods and systems for homeowner-directed risk mitigation for damage to a property associated with insurance-related events are provided. A smart home controller may analyze data received from a plurality of smart devices disposed on, or proximate to, a property as well as data received from an insurance provider. If it is determined that an actual or potential risk of property damage exists, the smart home controller may transmit an alert to a homeowner detailing the risk. The homeowner may respond to the alert by transmitting an instruction to mitigate or prevent damage associated with the risk back to the smart home controller. Subsequently, the smart home controller may transmit information about the actual or potential risks and any homeowner-directed mitigative actions to an insurance provider. The insurance provider may interpret the transmitted data and perform insurance activities, such as providing discounts and adjusting an insurance policy associated with the property.Type: GrantFiled: February 4, 2022Date of Patent: May 16, 2023Assignee: STATE FARM MUTUAL AUTOMOBILE INSURANCE COMPANYInventors: Ronny S. Patent number: 11599861Abstract: Systems and methods for mobile enrollment in automated clearing house (ACH) transactions using mobile-captured images of financial documents are provided. Applications running on a mobile device provide for the capture and processing of images of documents needed for enrollment in an ACH transaction, such as a blank check, remittance statement and driver's license. Data from the mobile-captured images that is needed for enrolling in ACH transactions is extracted from the processed images, such as a user's name, address, bank account number and bank routing number. The user can edit the extracted data, select the type of document that is being captured, authorize the creation of an ACH transaction and select an originator of the ACH transaction. The extracted data and originator information is transmitted to a remote server along with the user's authorization so the ACH transaction can be setup between the originator's and receiver's bank accounts.Type: GrantFiled: May 23, 2022Date of Patent: March 7, 2023Assignee: MITEK SYSTEMS, INC.Inventors: John J. Patent number: 11538117Abstract: An intermediate computer hosts a tax return preparation application and generates an interview screen presented to a preparer through a display of the preparer computing device executing a browser. In response, the preparer acquires images of tax documents to begin preparation of an electronic tax return, e.g., by sequentially taking photographs of tax documents using a camera of a mobile communication device, which transmits the images or results of image processing such as Optical Character Recognition(OCR) to the intermediate computer. The intermediate computer, as necessary, performs OCR processing and automatically populates a plurality of electronic tax forms with the first electronic tax data and the second electronic tax data. The electronic tax return may be completed by tax document imaging and manual corrections to OCR results as necessary, in contrast to traditional tax return preparation applications structured according to a pre-determined and programmed sequence of interview screens.Type: GrantFiled: February 1, 2022Date of Patent: December 27, 2022Assignee: INTUIT INC.Inventors: Andrew S. Patent number: 11403615Abstract: There are provided systems and methods for automatic synchronization of a device for transaction processing based on geo-fenced locations. A merchant may geo-fence an area corresponding to the merchant's location where a user may visit to purchase an item. The merchant may provide multiple transaction processing and payment options at the merchant location, including payment applications with a mobile communication device. A payment provider may detect the location of the user and determine that the user's location matches the merchant's location through the geo-fenced area for the merchant. The payment provider may then configure a payment process for the user to utilize at the merchant location using payment mechanisms accepted at the merchant location. Where multiple merchants are located nearby, the payment provider may utilize additional known information for the user to select the most likely merchant for the user.Type: GrantFiled: March 2, 2020Date of Patent: August 2, 2022Assignee: PAYPAL, INC.Inventors: Kevin Laracey, Douglas Hurst, Patrick Babcock
