  • Patent number: 7533467
Abstract: A utility knife has a disposable blade cartridge in its handle that has front and rear blade compartments. Each compartment is sized to store a plurality of blades in side-by-side relation. Fresh blades are disposed in the front compartment and one end of each is advanced one at a time substantially out of the compartment into operative position by a carrier that is controlled by an actuator on the handle. When the active blade is to be replaced, it is moved by the carrier into the rear compartment, and a new blade may then be withdrawn from the front compartment into the operative position. The active blade when not in use is partially withdrawn into the front compartment. The cartridge is reversed when the one end of all the blades in the front compartment are used, placing what was the rear compartment at the front, and the unused end of each blade is advanced into the operative position and when used they are each moved to the rear compartment.

  • Patent number: 7513180
Abstract: A cutting device for a thin metallic plate is provided which shortens time for shaping or the like on a cut edge to improve manufacturing efficiency, and increases the life of a cutter. The cutting device for cutting a thin metallic plate W with a predetermined width includes a shearing cutter 7 which is made of a metal having a higher hardness than the thin plate W and has a blade angle of 50 to 90°. A contacting member 5 is provided which includes a groove 8 facing the shearing cutter 7 and makes contact with the back side of the thin plate W. In the groove 8, an interval a between upper edges 9a and 9b of inner walls 9 is set at 15 to 30 times a thickness b of the thin plate W. A depth c of a deepest portion 11 in the groove 8 is set at one to three times the thickness b of the thin plate W. The inner walls 9 of the groove 8 include curved surfaces 10, each of which has a curvature radius of 15 to 50 times the thickness b of the thin plate.

  • Patent number: 7458505
Abstract: A punching unit is arranged so that a plurality of punches is grouped into a first group having a predetermined number of punches and a second group containing any one of the punches in the first group and having a smaller number of punches. A punching state of the predetermined number of punches is produced by reciprocating a reciprocating member within a first range and by vertically moving the punches of the first group through the intermediary of cams and followers corresponding to the first group and another punching state of the smaller number of punches is reached by reciprocating the reciprocating member within a second movable range and vertically moving the punches of the second group through the intermediary of cams and followers corresponding to the second group. This arrangement allows the number of punches and dies to be reduced as compared to the prior art.

  • Patent number: 6766933
Abstract: An automobile escape hammer gun includes a body, a striking hammer and a lever. The body has a front and a lower passage formed in the body at the front. The striking hammer is movably mounted in the lower passage, is spring-loaded and has a bottom tip extending out of the body and an annular lip with a bottom formed in the body. The lever mounted pivotally in the body and has an inside end abuts the bottom of the annular lip and an outside end extends out of the body. Therefore, when the lever is pivoted, the inside end of the lever moves the striking hammer into the body. The bottom tip of striking hammer will impact rapidly a window of a vehicle to break efficiently the window when the annular lip escapes from the front end of the lever.
