Abstract: Methods and systems of aligning annotation of fields of documents are provided. Training information that includes first measurement information pertaining to features of each of a plurality of fields associated with training clusters for documents of a document type is accessed. A first training cluster is annotated with a first name and the second training cluster is annotated with a second name. An electronic classification model is generated based on the training information. Second measurement information for features of fields associated with new clusters of a new document is accessed. Each of the new clusters is automatically annotated based on the second measurement information using the classification model. For example, a first new cluster that has fields of the first field type is annotated with the first name and a second new cluster that has fields of the second field type is annotated with the second name.

Abstract: Disclosed are techniques and systems to detect a layout of a source document. A process may include receiving content from a first page and a second page of the source document, designating sections in each page along a first direction of the page, and assigning similar sections to a group. For the group, the process may proceed by dividing sections for each page into discrete portions associated with 2D coordinate areas, and identifying sets of 2D coordinate areas for the discrete portions that contain content. The number of times each portion contains some content may be compared to a threshold to determine a layout of the group of sections.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer program products to perform an operation comprising receiving a policy document specifying a plurality of criteria, identifying, in a segment of unstructured text in the policy document, a criteria delimiter, creating a first portion and a second portion of the segment of unstructured text, wherein the first and second portions are created based on the criteria delimiter, wherein the first and second portions comprise a first criterion and a second criterion, respectively, and responsive to identifying an anaphora in the second portion of the segment of unstructured text that is related to a term in the first portion of the segment of unstructured text, combining the first criterion and the second criterion into a composite criterion.

Abstract: A system and process are disclosed for providing users with page previews during page loading events, such that the delay experienced before the display of page content is reduced. The previews may include screenshots of the pages or of portions thereof, and may be generated periodically and cached by the system for delivery to user devices. The process of generating and delivering the previews via the Internet or some other network may be implemented partly or wholly within an intermediary system that sits logically between the user devices and content servers. The process may be used with existing browsers without the need for any browser modifications, or may be used with a “preview-aware” browser that includes special program code for providing page previews.

Abstract: A method for arranging graphical objects in an electronic document displayed on a screen of a computing device includes calculating a plurality of positions of the graphical objects displayed on a display area of the screen, grouping the graphical objects whose calculated positions are located within a predetermined area of the display area, calculating a reference point of the group based on each position of the grouped graphical objects, reflowing the grouped graphical objects in response to a variation in display of the electronic document, calculating potential energies for the reflowed graphical objects, and displaying the electronic document with the reflowed graphical objects in a layout having the minimum potential energy among the calculated potential energies.

Abstract: Methods and systems for configuration management of computer applications implemented in different configurations use configuration parameters having assigned scopes of applicability. A method includes storing configuration parameters for a computer application for the different configurations. The stored configuration parameters have assigned scopes of applicability. At least one of the assigned scopes of applicability is selected and used to select a set of configuration parameters from the stored configuration parameters for application to a corresponding running instance of the computer application.

Abstract: A hardware device analyzes a document that includes a text-based visual representation. A correspondence information hardware storage device holds known representations of graphical images as text-based visual representations. The graphical images depict portraits of physical objects. The text-based visual representations are associated with information that each describe one of the physical objects. An identification hardware device identifies a text-based visual representation within a document. The identification hardware device matches the text-based visual representation within the document to one or more of the text-based visual representations stored in the correspondence information hardware storage device. An editing hardware device retrieves information from the correspondence information hardware storage device that is identified, by the identification hardware device, as describing a text-based visual representation component within the document.

Abstract: Techniques are provided for automatically detecting homologies between documents based on structural characteristics. Various statistics relating to the COS structure of a PDF document are compiled. The statistics are input into a rolling hash function to generate a digital fingerprint of the document. Fingerprints from two similar documents will have small edit distances between them, and can therefore be classified similarly or provided as results to a fingerprint-based search. For example, an unclassified document may be classified in the same class as a representative document where the fingerprints of the two documents have a small edit distance between them. Since the structure of the document is used instead of the text content or renderings, it is possible to operate on encrypted documents. Further, representative elements of a particular class of documents can be selected for comparison against a target document for improved resolution of the results.

Abstract: A method for marking web content. The method includes rendering first content on a web browser of a client device, and capturing a snapshot of the first content as rendered according to settings of the web browser. The method also includes receiving markup in association with the snapshot, and generating marked up content comprising the snapshot and the markup. The method also includes storing the marked up content for later access.

Abstract: Techniques are described for promoting content items in a page to load in a different order than the order in which they were initially designated to load in the page source. A page may include critical content items designated to load earlier than non-critical content items. In instances where there is a delay due to latency in generating or retrieving the critical content items, one or more non-critical content items may be promoted to load earlier than initially designated. Promotion may include incorporating metadata based priority indicators, such as attributes, into the tags for content items to suggest an order in which the content items may be requested by a user device. By promoting non-critical content items to load during the period in which the loading of the page may otherwise be stalled, overall page load times may be reduced.

Abstract: A method for pre-filtering visual objects on a document is disclosed. A selection of a template visual object with constituent components from a subsection of the document is received. Then, a feature set is derived, including a color list of colors defining the object components, a bounding definition of the object components, and an ancillary raster component intersection flag. A subset of pre-filtered visual objects is generated from the visual objects on the document. These match a predefined criteria based on the color list, live hounding definition, or the ancillary raster component intersection flag. A pre-filtered document raster image is then generated from the document, where the pixels corresponding to the pre-filtered visual objects are included.

Abstract: A method and system are provided which allow for the standardization of object-oriented metadata for units of supplemental data and the improved association of video assets with objects. By defining such a standard, metadata can be added that addresses the lack of creative control and flexibility for authors of supplemental content and interactive elements. The system provided generates objects and a separate object track which is associated with specific assets in the audio/video tracks of produced content. According to one embodiment, the system provided may be implemented to include a central object database. Each object record may include an object's unique identification, a description of the object, and additional production details. Objects may be defined in local and central databases prior to and even during production. Abstract: In some examples, an electronic device may present a portion of a content item in a first language contemporaneously with a corresponding portion in a second language. Thus, a user may view the portion of content in the first language and the same portion of content in the second language. Further, the electronic device may dynamically adjust an area allotted to displaying each language version, such as in the case that a portion of content in one language takes up more space than a matching portion of content in the other language. Abstract: Techniques pertaining to embedding fonts in a PDF document are disclosed. A processing component executing a PDF application programming interface (API) may be operative to identify each character in a PDF file associated with an un-embedded font. The PDF API may store a bitmap representation for each identified character in the PDF file associated with the un-embedded font. The PDF API may then create a bitmap font character from the bitmap representation for each identified character in the PDF file associated with an un-embedded font and replace each reference to a character in the PDF file associated with an un-embedded font with a reference to its corresponding bitmap font character.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a system and method for establishing a dynamic meta-knowledge network. More particularly, it relates to a computer implemented system and method for charting, mapping, linking, annotating, evaluating, following, broadcasting and publishing scientific, technical, medical and scholarly information, both current and historical. In an embodiment, the present system and method may be embodied in an internet application composed of a database containing scientific publication records, scientific meta-knowledge data, and user profiles. Scientific meta-knowledge stored in the database includes knowledge contexts as well as descriptive and quantitative annotations. Author names and entities within each knowledge context category and annotation category are linked to the appropriate publications. A publication webpage is generated for each publication record, and this is configured to aggregate and present stored data and links that are relevant (and specific) to each publication.
