Abstract: Aspects of the present invention manage event metrics as a function of service management analytics. In response to determining that a version of record associated with a service level management agreement should be saved (versioned), aspects capture the presence of reference attributes of the record, and summarize and aggregate values of organizing dimensions of the reference attributes of each of a plurality of records that includes the versioned record. Aspects generate a snapshot that comprises a subset of the summarized and aggregated, final values of the organizing dimensions of the reference attributes that are selected as having values that are associated with an event occurrence, and attach the summarized and aggregated values of the organizing dimensions of to the snapshot.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a method of sharing locations of users participating in a social networking service at a geographic location and communicating app related information of users participating in the social networking service, the method executed by a computer system and comprises: receiving location information and text descriptive information from a mobile device of a first user of the social networking service, the location information representing a geographic location of the first user, the text descriptive information manually provided by the first user on an input module of the mobile device; associating the location information with the text descriptive information of the first user in a database; sending the text descriptive information and the location information of the first user to a second user for display.

Abstract: A cluster file system includes a front-end file system comprising a hierarchical storage management application programming interface (API), a back-end file system, and a data mover module arranged between the front-end and back-end file systems and adapted for communication with the hierarchical storage management API of the front-end file system. The data mover module is configured to control movement of data between the front-end file system and the back-end file system responsive to information received via the hierarchical storage management API. For example, in some embodiments, the data mover module splits a given file received from the front-end file system into multiple smaller files for storage in the back-end file system and associates with each of the smaller files a corresponding file extension from a designated namespace to permit reconstruction of the given file upon retrieval of the smaller files from the back-end file system.

Abstract: A method, computer program product, and system for constructing a dynamic knowledge base of software usage patterns. A user action is monitored to identify one or more user action sequences. A common action sequence for the user action is identified, based on the one or more user action sequences. An instructional information resource is identified that corresponds to the common action resource, wherein the instructional information resource is accessed by the user. A database is constructed based on the common action sequence. The database organizes the common action sequences and instruction information resource. The instructional information resource is determined to be above a threshold based on the number of times the user consults the instructional information resource.

Abstract: An apparatus for providing an information model-based user interface may include a processor. The processor may be configured to access, for a particular object associated with a first application, relationship data defining one or more related objects associated with the particular object on the basis of metadata, provide for a presentation of the one or more related objects, and, in response to selection of one of the related objects, enable presentation of the selected related object via execution of an application associated with the selected related object if the application is different than the first application. A corresponding computer program product, method, and user interface are also provided.

Abstract: A system and method in which metadata associated with content data received from an information processing apparatus is used in determining related content data that includes a similar feature as the content data. The related content data may be determined from a channel in which the content data belongs according to a playback rate determination by the information processing apparatus of give content data used in determining the similar feature as the feature in the content data. The related content data may then be transmitted to the information apparatus, which may selectively playback the content data and the related content data.

Abstract: A computing environment includes a home site and a cache site with nonhomogeneous thin-provisioned storage configurations. A file management system updates files stored at the cache site. Each updated file has an updated file size and a pre-update file size. When a resynchronization is needed between the cache site and the home site, for example due to an extended communication failure, the storage requirement changes for the updated files are calculated and a notification is sent to the home site. The notification identifies the updated files and the storage requirement changes. The home site sends a reply to the cache site. The reply identifies which files are approved for immediate processing. The cache site transfers resynchronization data for the approved files to the home site, and delays transferring resynchronization data for the unapproved files until subsequent replies from the home site indicate that the previously unapproved files are now approved.

Abstract: A computer method, apparatus, system and computer program product for remotely monitoring a social website includes monitoring user activity (events) and producing user activity data. The resulting data may be processed separately from the social website. The processed user activity data may be stored and information indicative of the data may be reported. Monitoring user activity may be in response to a call from a social website. Thus, a plurality of websites may be monitored and data from these websites may be normalized. Remotely monitoring a plurality of social websites allows the invention system to identify activity/data trends, such as individual or group user trends, or larger societal trends identifiable across the plurality of websites. The invention may monitor user activity in a substantially real-time manner or alternatively may store indicative user activity data for later processing. User activity data may also be encrypted/decrypted and/or authenticated to ensure data integrity.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and techniques for using of keywords, categories, patent related publications, and other literature to profile users are provided. Some examples provide a profiling tool which enables users to self-describe using, for example, keywords, patent related publications, and articles. In other examples, the tool assigns search-based profiling information. The profiling tool using citation based patent related search techniques to suggest additional keywords and/or patent publications for augmenting the user's search-based profile information. In some examples, the IP Invention Management System (IPIMS) uses these profiles to distribute workload, for example, to route patent assets to be reviewed or be improved upon as ripe for invention. In addition, other applications may use these profiles to offer other types of matching services, such as social mapping.

Abstract: A technique is introduced that enables one or more mechanisms to collect storage and transfer utilization metrics for an account in a distributed data storage system that are more scalable and robust than conventional ways. The technique includes a method comprising, for each of the nodes, of collecting storage utilization data for a one account. The method further includes, for each proxy server, collecting transfer utilization data for the one account. The method further includes, at the controller, generating a cluster account interval (CAI) data based on a raw storage data file and an aggregated transfer data file. The CAI data include storage and transfer utilization data over a predetermined time span.

Abstract: Classifications associated with a plurality of nodes may be identified. The classifications may be grouped into first level communities based on edge weights between the classifications. The first level communities may be grouped into second level communities based on edge weights between the first level communities. A sorted list of the plurality of nodes may be generated based on the classifications, the first level communities, and the second level communities. Unique identifiers (IDs) may be assigned sequentially to the sorted list of the plurality of nodes.

Abstract: In one example of a method to access data, selected data stored in a virtual tape library (“VTL”) maintained in a selected format in a first non-tape storage medium is examined. One or more first directories and one more first files are identified within the selected data. One or more second directories, and one or more second files, comprising information identifying at least one of the one or more first files, are generated and are stored in a second non-tape storage medium. A request specifying at least one of the one or more second files is received from a device, and information identifying at least one of the one or more first files is retrieved from the specified second file. The at least one first file is accessed based at least in part on the information, and data from the at least one first file is provided to the device. Systems are also disclosed. Methods and systems to enable users without system administrator rights to access and store data in a backup storage system are also disclosed.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for introducing domain-specific data types with associated semantics in an RDF database system using an extensibility framework mechanism. The extensibility framework mechanism allows users to map serialized instance data for a particular user-defined data type to properties of a base data structure associated with the domain-specific data and to map instance data in base data structures to the data's serialized form. The RDF database system may return inferred properties of RDF data stored in domain-specific data types in response to a query on the data. Further, the RDF database system may infer relationships between resources in stored data.

Abstract: Among other disclosed subject matter, a computer program product is tangibly embodied in a computer-readable storage medium and includes instructions that when executed by a processor perform a method for recording information about an item. The method includes assigning a unique identifier to an item in a repository, the item supporting versioning and being subject to a data model having no predefined schema for items. The method includes associating a first attribute with the unique identifier, the first attribute being part of the item and being configured for modification. The method includes associating the first attribute with a version number, wherein the versioning is supported without recording in the repository a time period when the first attribute is valid.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and techniques for managing and using search snapshot histories are provided. Some examples provide a Search Snapshot Management Engine (“SSME”), which enables users and or programs through the use of an application programming interface (“API”) to define and manipulate search snapshots. In typical operation, an iteration of a search result is associated with a search snapshot history. A rendering of the search snapshot history may be provided to assist in navigation to other potentially related search iterations and to define new search states for performing searches. In some examples, the SSME may be used to provide search histories to teams for reviewing patent related publications and other types of literature.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and techniques for facilitating searching for patent related literature are provided. Some examples provide a Patent Related Publication Search Engine (“PRPSE”), which enables users and or programs through the use of an application programming interface (“API”) to iteratively find patent related publications such as issued patents and patent application publications. In typical operation, based upon input text, the PRPSE determines predominant keywords found in the text and locates a set of patent related publications most closely related to these determined keywords as search results. In some examples, the PRPSE determines the set of patent related publications most closely related to these determined keywords both by full text searching of a corpus of patent related publications for all of the patent related publications that contain the predominant keywords and by finding all correlated patent related publications through citation analysis.

Abstract: The present invention relates to systems and methods for enhancing accessibility of content uploaded on a media sharing site. A user may interface with a computer system to identify a unique keyword. The unique keyword is not associated with any media on the media sharing platform. The unique keyword includes a hashtag preceding the keyword. Media is uploaded to the media sharing platform. The unique keyword is entered into the title and description fields for the uploaded media, while the tag field remains empty. The user may share the unique keyword to promote the uploaded media. Likewise, the user may access the media sharing platform to generate analytics.

Abstract: A system and method for transparent multi key-value weighted attributed connection using uni-tag connection pools. In accordance with an embodiment, a connection pool enables labeling of connections that software applications can use to access a database. A connection pool associated with a database enables tagging of connection pools at the database and allows applications to selectively obtain connections based on tags. A request is received from an application to query data from the database using a labeled connection or low-cost alternative. If a low-cost connection is found, but requires configuration, the system returns unmatched labels for use by the application in configuring its environment to use the connection. The system can also generate a tag for the connection. Upon subsequent release of the database session, the tag can be made available for subsequent use of the tag, or a tagged connection, by the same or by other applications.

Abstract: Data storage is improved by combining content indexing and data reduction in text-containing files by using common word elimination. Raw data is processed by finding words in selected files, creating an index of found words, and replacing the words in the raw data with pointers to the corresponding words in the index. Each word appears only once in the index. Consequently, the index is relatively small and the procedure is completely reversible. In particular, the index is small relative to other methods because the data is transformed in place, and the transformed data and index are used together to capture the total information about the data.

Abstract: A DBA may pre-generate database recovery jobs on a convenient schedule at a local site, then recover a database at a disaster recovery site. Archive log files for the database that are generated in the interim between recovery job generation and recovery job execution are automatically incorporated into the recovery job when it executes, extending the recovery point closer to the time of the disruption that triggered the need or desire for recovery.
