Abstract: Embodiments may comprise logic such as hardware and/or code to reduce power consumption by, e.g., a device such as a station or relay by implementing prediction logic to decode and determine whether a communication affects the operation of the device. Some embodiments may comprise logic to receive at least a portion of a header of a frame from a physical layer and begin to decode the portion of the header of the frame without first checking the correctness of the value in the frame check sequence field. In many embodiments, prediction logic may determine whether the frame could have an impact on the operation of the device. For circumstances in which the prediction logic determines that the frame will not have an impact, the MAC logic may terminate processing, receipt, and decoding of the frame and enter the device into a low power consumption state.

  • Patent number: 9374815
Abstract: The invention relates to a new structure of a control channel region within a sub-frame of a 3GPP-based based communication system using OFDM in the downlink. This new structure of a control channel region is inter alia particularly suitable for conveying physical downlink control channel information from a donor eNodeB to a relay node. The control channel region is divided in CCEs that have equal size irrespective of the presence of further cell-specific and/or UE-specific reference signals within the control channel region. This is achieved by dividing the control channel region in plural sub-CCEs that are combined to CCEs all having equal size (in terms of resource elements that can be used for the signaling of control information). The control channel region is divided in the frequency domain and/or time domain in a FDM respectively TDM fashion in order to obtain the sub-CCEs.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for detecting high speed shared control channel of a communication terminal is provided, which recognizes decoding reliability for each of high-speed shared control channel by decoding each of a plurality of high-speed shared control channels; decides a maximum and a minimum in the decoding reliability, calculates a difference between the maximum and the minimum to compare the calculated difference with a preset critical value; and detects and processes a high-speed shared control channel corresponding to the maximum, when the difference exceeds the critical value. Accordingly, even though the wireless environment is inferior, the decoding reliability of an HS-SCCH can be more accurately decided in an HS-SCCH detection apparatus of the communications terminal and the detection performance of the HS-SCCH can be improved in a communication terminal.
