The method also includes receiving, at the media device, the viewership information, where the viewership information is determined based on a corresponding portion of multicast routing table data stored at each of a plurality of edge routers, and where each portion includes a corresponding plurality of entries associated with media content. The method further includes receiving, at the media device, a user interface based on the viewership information.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for aggregating the data for a plurality of individualized programs into a single channel, and allocating the channel bandwidth as-needed for provision of short video programs on an “on demand” basis, so that the total bandwidth required to provide the individualized channels and associated video clips is substantially reduced. Also provided is a real-time, single-user-targeted individualized advertising associated with the viewer selection that personalizes the user's iTV experience. The advertisements are targeted in real-time based on an immediate interest revealed by the user in a search request for content. Short duration videos are provided so as not to over-tax the individualized “on demand” channel's limited bandwidth.

Abstract: A unique session identifier may be utilized to announce the availability of an electronic programming guide to users of an enhanced television distribution system. In some embodiments, the unique session identifier may be utilized in a variety of systems to provide a uniform way of recognizing the availability of an electronic programming guide in conjunction with enhanced television distribution systems.

A method of receiving a broadcast signal including a Non-Real-Time (NRT) Receiver Targeting service, the method comprises receiving broadcast signal including first signaling information and second signaling information, identifying an NRT service based on the first signaling information, parsing a Receiver Targeting Descriptor from the second signaling information, determining validity of the NRT service or an NRT content based on a targeting_criterion_type_code included in the Receiver Targeting Descriptor, and downloading the NRT service or the NRT content when a receiver determines the NRT service or the NRT content to be valid.

The techniques may include obtaining the reaction of the individual as the content is displayed to the individual. The reaction may be obtained by capturing a video of the individual. The reaction of the individual and the content may be output at a same time to another individual. These techniques may also include obtaining the reaction of another individual as the content and the reaction of the individual are output to another individual.

Abstract: Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, a process that determines information from a first media stream including a number of keywords associated with viewing habits of a user. A second media stream of a media program is scanned for one of a word or phrase corresponding to a keyword of the number of keywords. A second keyword is determined based on the one of the word or phrase, and additional information associated with the second keyword is identified. Results associated with the additional information are provided to a multimedia device. Other embodiments are disclosed.

Abstract: A method is described for controlling a television. While receiving and displaying a broadcast signal on a screen of the television, the television receives a first signal from a remote controller and displays a control icon corresponding to the remote controller on the screen. The screen is partitioned into a first and second partition, the first partition being a broadcast signal display region continuing to display the broadcast signal, and the second partition being a television control region that includes television control icons and/or subregions. A second signal is wirelessly received from the remote controller, the second signal representing a movement of the remote controller. The control icon is moved across the screen of the television in response to the movement of the remote controller. A channel list is displayed based on whether the second sign is recognized within or out of the second partition.

Abstract: Systems and methods for allocating bandwidth in a switched digital video (SDV) system based on charmed interest. In some embodiments, bandwidth is deallocated from channels and allocated to requested channels having a higher interest. Tiered approaches for allocating bandwidth are disclosed. Embodiments in which QAMs are allocated across services in a multi-service system based on interest are also disclosed. Embodiments for accommodating emergency access system (EAS) functionality in a SDV system are also disclosed.

Abstract: Mechanisms are provided for allowing a mobile device to dynamically obtain program guide data. A mobile device having the capability of playing media streams is configurable to dynamically request program guide structure information followed by program guide content information. In one example, the program guide structure information allows a user to begin navigating the program guide data in an active and dynamic manner. Program guide content information including data such as program titles, times, icons, and links are then downloaded and displayed as needed. Potentially limitless amounts of program guide data can be provided on a mobile device. Program guide content information can be provided in a generic manner while allowing user layout customization. Program guide information can also be preemptively provided to a mobile device based on a variety of criteria.

The recipe request may be related to a clip including audio and/or video. The server can generate a recipe for creating the clip using one or more slices of a data source. The recipe can include one or more tasks that can include a data-source task which can include a specification of the data source and slice definitions for the one or more slices. The data source can include a video and/or audio data source. A slice definition can include a slice value and a slice offset for locating a respective slice within the data source. The recipe can then be transmitted from the server.
