  • Patent number: 10665025
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for representing a virtual object in a real environment, having the following steps: generating a two-dimensional representation of a real environment by means of a recording device, ascertaining a position of the recording device relative to at least one component of the real environment, segmenting at least one area of the real environment in the two-dimensional image on the basis of non-manually generated 3D information for identifying at least one segment of the real environment in distinction to a remaining part of the real environment while supplying corresponding segmentation data, and merging the two-dimensional image of the real environment with the virtual object or, by means of an optical, semitransparent element directly with reality with consideration of the segmentation data. The invention permits any collisions of virtual objects with real objects that occur upon merging with a real environment to be represented in a way largely close to reality.

  • Patent number: 10657681
Abstract: A scene to be rendered is divided into plural individual sub-regions or tiles. The individual sub-regions 51 are also grouped into differing groups of sets of plural sub-regions. There is a top level layer comprising a set of 8×8 sub-regions which encompasses the entire scene area. There is then a group of four 4×4 sets of sub-regions, then a group of sixteen 2×2 sets of sub-regions, and finally a layer comprising the 64 single sub-regions. A primitive list building processor takes each primitive in turn, determines a location for that primitive, compares the primitive's location with the locations of the sub-regions and the locations of the sets of sub-regions, and allocates the primitive to respective primitive lists for the sub-regions and sets of sub-regions accordingly.

  • Patent number: 10650594
Abstract: An augmented reality surgical system includes a head mounted display (HMD) with a see-through display screen, a motion sensor, a camera, and computer equipment. The motion sensor outputs a head motion signal indicating measured movement of the HMD. The computer equipment computes the relative location and orientation of reference markers connected to the HMD and to the patient based on processing a video signal from the camera. The computer equipment generates a three dimensional anatomical model using patient data created by medical imaging equipment, and rotates and scales at least a portion of the three dimensional anatomical model based on the relative location and orientation of the reference markers, and further rotate at least a portion of the three dimensional anatomical model based on the head motion signal to track measured movement of the HMD. The rotated and scaled three dimensional anatomical model is displayed on the display screen.

  • Patent number: 10642899
Abstract: A method and system for graphical enumeration. The method includes creating an ordered set of vertices for a graph such that each vertex is associated with a corresponding index, and wherein each vertex in the ordered set of vertices includes information. A plurality of keys is created for defining the information. A plurality of lists of vertices is created, each of which is associated with a corresponding key such that vertices in a corresponding list include information associated with the corresponding key. For a first list of vertices, a least valued index is determined from a group of associated vertices based on vertices in the first list and vertices pointed to by the vertices in the first list. Also, all associated vertices are pointed to a root vertex associated with the least valued index.

  • Patent number: 10607420
Abstract: With inventive processing making use of surface-reconstruction and capping steps, more imagery acquired by 3C cameras can be put to use in augmented reality applications, especially applications, such as medical reconstruction, in which a certain theoretical ideal fit might be wanted but can be difficult or seemingly impossible to achieve due to highly complex, irregular shapes, perimeters and surfaces involved. The inventive technology is especially useful for ongoing wound measurement and comparative analysis and characterization of a wound over time, as well as working with anatomical reconstruction. The inventive technology also extends to non-medical augmented reality applications, and provides robust data sets representing a range of real-world objects, such as zoo animals, family pets, etc. susceptible of being imaged and stored as robust data sets that provide better verisimilitude when used in gaming or other virtual-world contexts as compared to a raw data set from a camera.
