  • Patent number: 7649659
Abstract: An image processing apparatus includes an image reading unit 3 that reads a front side image and a rear side image from a front side and a rear side of a medium, respectively, a mark detecting unit 42 that detects a combination instruction mark present in a predetermined position of at least one of the front side image and the rear side image, and an image combining unit 44 that combines, when the combination instruction mark is detected, a front side sliced image and a rear side sliced image sliced from predetermined positions of the front side image and the rear side image in a predetermined direction to obtain one image.

  • Patent number: 7605943
Abstract: A method and apparatus for producing a color conversion profile for use in a color inkjet printer, a color laser printer, or the like. In one embodiment, a spectral printing model converter is used to sample ink amount data to spectral reflectance Rsmp(?). Using this spectral reflectance Rsmp(?), colorimetric values CV1, CV2 under two different viewing conditions are calculated, and an evaluation index EI that includes an index of color difference between the colorimetric values CV1, CV2 is calculated. I another embodiment, an evaluation index EI that includes an index of color difference between sample color represented by sample ink amount data and reference color obtained from a reference color patch is calculated. Sample ink amount data having the best evaluation index EI is then selected as a representative sample. Profiles are created from the plurality of selected representative samples.

  • Patent number: 7602516
Abstract: An image processing system make it possible to easily for electronizing paper documents can read a large quantity of manuscripts with image processing apparatuses to generate images. The system has multi function peripherals (MFP). One of the MFPs (combination destination) can send a management table for managing image data to another MFP (transmission source), which designates an image data combination position, generates a management table for managing the image data of the transmission source MFP, generates a management table, in which the management table of the transmission source is added to the management table of the combination destination, and transfers the image data of the transmission source MFP and the management tables to the combination destination MEP, which combines the image data of the transmission source MFP and the image data of the combination destination MFP based on the management tables and the combination position.

  • Patent number: 7515304
Abstract: In order to create a profile that associates lattice points defined in an equipment-dependent color space with lattice points defined in an equipment-independent color space, a reference profile that associates a plurality of lattice points in the equipment-dependent color space with lattice points in the equipment-independent color space is retrieved. A virtual force that acts on a focused lattice point in the equipment-independent color space is defined, and a position at which the focused lattice point is located in a steady-state in which the virtual force acts on the focused lattice point is calculated. The reference profile is referenced in order to retrieve a lattice point in the equipment-dependent color space associated with the position of the steady-state focused lattice point. A profile is created by associating the position of each steady-state focused lattice point with a lattice point in the equipment-dependent color space.

  • Patent number: 7480078
Abstract: A method and system for performing error diffusion are disclosed. An ordered set of pixels, including a pixel intensity value for each pixel, is received. Each pixel intensity value includes a value within a range from a low value to a high value, inclusive. An initial error value is also received. Based on the pixel intensity values and the initial error value, a pixel value for each pixel and an updated error value are computed substantially simultaneously with each other.

  • Patent number: 7477431
Abstract: It is made possible to effect the reading of image data of four channels (corresponding to four basic colors) without resulting in an increase in the construction of an A/D conversion circuit for three channels (corresponding to three basic colors). In an image reading apparatus provided with photoelectric conversion element arrays 401a-401d capable of resolving an inputted optical signal into four basic colors and outputting them as analog electrical signals, and an A/D conversion circuit 407 capable of inputting three analog electrical signals at a time, three or less analog electrical signals are selected from the photoelectric conversion element arrays 401a-401d at the image reading of one main scanning line and also, a different combination of analog electrical signals are selected at the image reading of two adjacent main scanning lines, and the selected analog electrical signals are outputted to the A/D conversion circuit 407.
