Patent number: 7652799Abstract: When copying an object that has faded markings of color fadable toner and is printed with the color fadable toner, a threshold value changing key is displayed on a liquid crystal display of an operation panel to be pressed down. A main CPU sets a threshold value 1a and a threshold value 2a in an image processing unit upon detecting the threshold value changing key displayed on the liquid crystal display of the operation panel via a touch panel. The image processing unit eliminates a background image by using the set threshold value 1a and threshold value 2a, thereby providing dark printing with an excellent image.Type: GrantFiled: October 19, 2005Date of Patent: January 26, 2010Assignees: Kabushiki Kaisha Toshiba, Toshiba Tec Kabushiki KaishaInventor: Toshifumi Mimura

Patent number: 7649649Abstract: A system/method of color match assessment for electronic documents includes receiving digital data defining a composite electronic document including a raster image object having an edge and a color graphics object bordering the edge of the raster image object. The pixel color values defining the edge of the raster image object are processed to estimate a local color variance of the pixel color values. The local color variance is used to determine if the edge can be color matched to the bordering color graphics object. If the edge can be color matched, a match color for the edge is derived. The match color is associated with the digital data defining the electronic document so that a downstream object color match system can use the match color as needed, e.g., to adjust the color of the bordering color graphics object to ensure a match with the edge of the raster image object when the electronic document is printed using a xerographic printing process.Type: GrantFiled: November 17, 2005Date of Patent: January 19, 2010Assignee: Xerox CorporationInventors: Reiner Eschbach, Zhigang Fan, David E. Patent number: 7605941Abstract: A drawing apparatus in which drawing data, which is required to perform a drawing operation on drawing blocks on a surface that can be drawn at one time by drawing heads moving relatively to said drawn surface, is sequentially generated based on design data and temporarily stored in a memory and, then, sequentially supplied to drawing engines comprises computing means for computing drawing start instruction data to start the relative movement and the drawing operation of the drawing heads after a delay from the start of production of the drawing data so that at least the drawing data is stored in the memory.Type: GrantFiled: February 24, 2005Date of Patent: October 20, 2009Assignee: Shinko Electric Industries Co., Ltd.Inventor: Kazunari Sekigawa

Patent number: 7576891Abstract: Provided are an apparatus and method for improving an image quality of an image sensor, capable of adaptively removing noise occurring in a de-mosaicking that is performed for generating three-channel data of R, G and B from a single channel pixel structure based on a bayer pattern. The apparatus includes a first converting unit for converting RGB color data into a YCbCr color data, the RGB color data being obtained from bayer data through a de-mosaicking, a noise removal unit for removing noise from a Cb and a Cr color data outputted from the first converting unit, and a second converting unit for converting the Cb and the Cr color data from the noise removal unit and a Y data from the first converting unit into the RGB color data.Type: GrantFiled: November 28, 2005Date of Patent: August 18, 2009Assignee: Crosstek Capital, LLCInventor: Sung-Hyun Hwang

Patent number: 7576894Abstract: A device for sharpening an image signal for receiving an image signal input, detecting and sharpening the object edge of the image signal input by using a detection period, and outputting an image signal output is provided. The image signal sharpening device determines the switching point of a maximum value signal and of a minimum value signal within the detection period through a switch-point generator and sharpens the image signal input through a signal processing unit. Therefore, the device can enhance the contrast of the edge of the object image and improve image sharpness without causing an overshoots or undershoots of the image amplitude. In addition, a confidence checking unit can be used to ensure the correct detection of the edge of the object image.Type: GrantFiled: February 15, 2006Date of Patent: August 18, 2009Assignee: Novatek Microelectronics Corp.Inventor: Kuowei Huang

Patent number: 7518755Abstract: An image processing apparatus includes a document type automatic discrimination section that, based upon input image data read from a document, automatically discriminates a document type of the document. The document type automatic discrimination section, based upon plural types of parameters (quantity of halftone pixels, quantity of photographic-picture pixels, and quantity of high density pixels) obtained from plural types of characteristics (maximum density difference, total density busyness) extracted from the input image data and which parameters are used for discriminating a document type. A specific inkjet printed image whose output image data would not reach a standard level, if a process for a halftone reproduction region or a process for a continuous tone region were to be carried out on the input image data. This can improve the accuracy of document discrimination and the image quality of reproduced image.Type: GrantFiled: October 18, 2005Date of Patent: April 14, 2009Assignee: Sharp Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Makio Gotoh, Kazuhisa Kubota

Patent number: 7492485Abstract: A system and method for correcting a defect in an image, such as a ghost defect or a reload defect, by compensating for the defect. A defect model is created with a source target function that represents a source level with respect to a target level. A test output image is created on which the test data is measured. State data representing a state of the imaging device, previously printed images or the current image are inputted to a controller. An image correction factor is outputted from the controller based on the test image measurement data, the state data, the previously printed images, and the current image to the image path actuator. A corrected image is created based on the image correction factor.Type: GrantFiled: October 20, 2005Date of Patent: February 17, 2009Assignee: Xerox CorporationInventors: Palghat S. Ramesh, Peter Paul
