Abstract: In the axial flow rotary separator of a combine harvester spiral propulsion of the crop material mat is achieved through the cooperation of helical guide vanes in the separator casing and rotor fingers free to swing axially. The rotor is eccentrically mounted so that each finger fully engages the mat for only part of each revolution. While in engagement, the fingers maintain the circumferential propulsion of the mat but each finger is free to be carried downstream by the mat under the influence of the guide vanes, deflected from its normal free fully radially extending position. On disengagement from the mat, centrifugal force restores the finger to its fully extended position ready for reengagement of the mat.

Abstract: The axial flow rotary separator of a self-propelled combine employs dual side-by-side rotors sharing a common infeed opening. Finger-like crop engaging elements of the rotors are propelled in orbits both oblique and eccentric with respect to the separator casings. The rotors are counter rotating and a stream of threshed crop material is delivered towards the bite of the rotors so that it is carried through between the rotors and divided against an opposite floor of the infeed casing. The fingers are disposed so that, as the rotor rotates, the degree of engagement of each finger with the crop material stream varies and so that, while in its principal engagement with the material, each finger propels portions of the crop material stream generally spirally downstream.
Abstract: A floating frame member for use in a fish breeding apparatus, which is a hollow rod-shaped elastic body constituting a main part of a gas chamber therein, said elastic body being composed of rubber or rubbery elastic material and reinforced with fiber cords to have an outer diameter of about 279.4-about 609.6 mm (11-24 inches), a thickness of about 12.7-50.8 mm (1/2-2 inches) and a product between a Young's modulus and a sectional secondary moment of 100-3,000 kg.multidot.m.sup.2, and having a ratio of circumferential stress to axial stress of 1.5-2.5 when an internal pressure of 0.1-20 kg/cm.sup.2 is applied to said elastic body.
Abstract: A disposable bird feeder comprises a blister pack of bird food adapted to be suspended by an eye in the backing and to provide a perch for the bird by means formed out of the pack and backing as shown in FIG. 1. This provides a very cheap and disposable bird feeder.
Abstract: Device for packing poultry in a box comprising an endless belt (19) running over a plurality of rolls (14-18) with horizontal axles and provided with spaced apart rows of fingers (20), which are hingedly connected with the belt (19) said belt (19) having an upwardly running part at which the fingers project forwardly and move from the floor with the belt and the picked-up poultry upwardly said poultry in normal position being taken over by a series of substantially horizontal guide cams (25) at the level of the top reverse roll (15) at which level the fingers are withdrawn and move downwardly with the belt while the poultry is taken over by endless belts (27,29) which feed them to a feed regulating device (30) which discharges into a box (36).
Abstract: A surgical clip has projections on its load-bearing portion. Also, a forceps used with the surgical clip is formed with depressions or small holes to receive the projections on the surgical clip.
Abstract: The adjustable chaffer and lower sieve of a combine harvester are replaced by a cob catcher or cob-saving sieve which allows corncobs along with shelled corn to be recovered as a mixture from the harvester rather than separating the corn from the cobs and discarding the cobs. The cob-saving sieve comprises a framework incorporating parallel inclined vanes sufficiently spaced apart to allow cobs to pass therethrough and disposed at an angle to direct airflow from the harvester fan over the surface of the sieve for removal of unwanted material.
Abstract: An adjustable multiple row head assembly for a crop harvester provides cantilevered support arms for a plurality of row head units. The units are adjustably positioned for harvesting crops planted in differently spaced rows. An adjusting device for the row head units provides infinitely variable adjustment, and specifically includes a jackscrew operating between a moveable frame member of the row head unit and the fixed cantilevered support arm therefor. The row head units extend in a fore-and-aft direction with respect to a base and include gathering conveyors driven by sprockets. The conveyors cooperatively form passageways having inlets for the crop, and engage idler sprockets adjustable in accordance with the row head unit adjustment to maintain proper tension in the conveyors.
