Abstract: A method for estimating a signal to interference and noise ratio of a communication link between a first node and a second node of a wireless communication network, the network comprising a number of further communication links between said first node and a number of further nodes. The method comprises, at the first node, providing first estimates of useful signal powers on all the links; providing second estimates of the signal powers on the link and on the further communication links on the basis of, jointly, the first estimate of the signal power on the link and the first estimates of the signal powers on the further links; estimating the signal to interference and noise ratio as a ratio between the second estimate of the signal power on the link and a power term comprising a sum of the second estimates of the signal powers on the further links.

  • Patent number: 10390347
Abstract: A wireless communication network that supports low complexity devices is disclosed. In this network the plurality of preamble resources are allocated by a network node. The preambles are divided into sets, a first set of the preambles being for use by user equipment that is not low complexity user equipment; and a second set of the preambles being for use by low complexity user equipment and on occasion indicated by the network node, for use by user equipment that is not low complexity user equipment. Information on the allocation of preamble resources being broadcast to user equipment; and in response to receipt of one of the second set of preambles, signals are transmitted from the network node that are limited to transport blocks of less than a predetermined size.

  • Patent number: 10382319
Abstract: Embodiments are directed to facilitate multiple tunnels to be reachable via inter-chassis ling from virtual link trunking (VLT) peers and also to avoid traffic tromboning with an optimal path to all next hops. During initialization, a default egress object is created through an ICL with the next hop defined as VLT peer2 by setting the MAC address to be the MAC address of the VLT peer2, and the VLAN to be any one of the L3 spanned VLANs. When any of the VXLAN tunnels are resolved through ICL LAG, the process uses the default egress object created on ICL. Using the default egress object created on ICL, any traffic from VLT peer1 intended to go through ICL is terminated on VLT peer2 and will get routed again to their respective next hops. This creates a single egress object to the VLT peer and allowing multiple VXLAN tunnels to be reachable through ICL with optimal path towards all next hops.

  • Patent number: 10375604
Abstract: Embodiments presented in this disclosure relate to methods and apparatuses (such as Access Points (AP's), evolved NodeB's (eNB's), etc.) for use in aggregation, or integration, between a Wireless Wide Area Network (WWAN) and a Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN). In one embodiment, an eNB decides that an aggregation between the WWAN and the WLAN is to be performed for at least one bearer of one or more bearers associated with a specific UE. Next, the eNB identifies which one(s) of the at least one bearer of the specific UE that is/are to be aggregated between the WWAN and the WLAN. Also, the eNB schedules each one of the at least one bearer identified to be aggregated between the WWAN and the WLAN.

  • Patent number: 10368364
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices are described for providing network access services to mobile users via multi-user network access terminals over a multi-beam satellite system. Quality-of-service (QoS) is controlled for the mobile devices at a per-user level according to user-specific traffic policies Mobile users may be provisioned on the satellite system according to a set of traffic policies based on their service level agreement (SLA). System resources of the satellite may be allocated to mobile users based on the demand of each mobile user and the set of traffic polices associated with each mobile user, regardless of which multi-user network access terminal is used to access the system. Dynamic multiplexing of traffic from fixed terminals and mobile users on the same satellite beam can take advantage of statistical multiplexing of large numbers of users and on different usage patterns between fixed terminals and mobile users.

  • Patent number: 10356013
Abstract: A method of emulating a multipath connection, in which data packets sent or received by a given user equipment are intercepted by a plurality of concentrators situated in at least one network to which the user equipment is connected. Each concentrator serves to aggregate connections making use of a plurality of paths that can be used by the user equipment. One of the concentrators is designated in dynamic manner as being “primary” concentrator, and the other concentrator(s) are designated as being “secondary” concentrator(s). The primary concentrator or a secondary concentrator: a) receives a data packet sent by the user equipment to a correspondent; b) when necessary, removes all of the multipath options from the received packet; c) replaces the source address of the received packet with an address of the primary concentrator; and d) sends the packet as modified in this way to the correspondent.

  • Patent number: 10356598
Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure provide a mobility management method, apparatus, and system. An HA-C sends a first BA message to an MN, where the first BA message includes an address of a first HA-U; and the HA-C sends a configuration message to the first HA-U, where the configuration message includes an HoA and a CoA that are of the MN, so that the first HA-U performs tunnel communication with the MN according to the configuration message. In this way, an original proxy server or an original gateway completes only tunnel communication with the MN, and a newly-added proxy server completes control signaling interaction with a BU, thereby reducing load of the original proxy server or the original gateway, and resolving a prior-art problem that load of a proxy server or a gateway is relatively heavy.

  • Patent number: 10327161
Abstract: A method of communication between an access network and terminals. The access network includes half-duplex base stations, in which, when a downlink message is to be sent, in the course of a predetermined time interval, to a terminal that has sent an uplink message received by several base stations. Reception loads associated respectively with a group of base stations that have received the uplink message sent by the terminal are obtained. Each reception load being representative of a probability of reception, by the corresponding base station, of an uplink message in the course of the time interval. A base station is selected from among the base stations of the group, as a function of the reception loads obtained. The downlink message is transmitted by the selected base station.
