Abstract: A synchronization server creates an augmented radio listener experience by providing additional information, especially visual information, over a concurrent, parallel data connection to a user device during the radio broadcast. The additional information is synchronized to the radio broadcast item then playing, based on an event message received by the synchronization server from the radio station equipment. The synchronization server can implement real-time interactions between connected radio listeners and a disk jockey dashboard of the radio station. The synchronization server optionally can personalize advertisement content for transmission to user devices based on user profile information and audience criteria provided by the advertiser.

The domestic appliance and the mobile computer device are interconnected or interconnectable via a wireless data connection. Abstract: A video playing method, apparatus and electronic device. The method comprises: obtaining to-be-played video frames; inputting the obtained to-be-played video frames into a preset decoder, and decoding the to-be-played video frames by the preset decoder to obtain decoded to-be-played video frames; storing the decoded to-be-played video frames as texture data in a texture storage area of a graphic processing unit; determining, from the decoded to-be-played video frames stored in the texture storage area, a decoded to-be-played video frame that satisfies a rendering condition as a to-be-rendered video frame; rendering and the determined to-be-rendered video frames by the graphic processing unit and playing the rendered video frame. With the embodiments of the present application, rendering speed of a graphic processing unit (GPU) can be increased to a certain extent. Therefore, video playing performance of the electronic device can be improved.

Abstract: Systems and methods for determining outcomes for promotional messages presented to viewers using digital on-screen graphics are described. A service provider may present digital on-screen graphics on content presentation devices, which may be detected by an outcome management system. The digital on-screen graphic may be displayed in association with a primary content offering, such as a television program. The outcome management system may monitor content presentation devices, including those exposed to the digital on-screen graphic, to determine the effectiveness of the digital on-screen graphic. For instance, the outcome management system may determine whether content presentation devices exposed to the digital on-screen graphic subsequently accessed a content offering promoted therein.

Abstract: Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, a method including providing a video presentation to user devices. A latency related to the video presentation is determined for each device; a high-latency user device is identified having greater latency than other, low-latency devices. Field of view information is analyzed for each of the low-latency devices; based on the analyzing, a field of view of the high-latency user device is predicted. In accordance with the predicting, a predicted viewing map for the high-latency user device is generated. The video presentation for the high-latency user device is adjusted based on the predicted viewing map. Other embodiments are disclosed.

Abstract: Approaches provide for processing a communications signal, such as a wideband communications signal. For example, a communications signal can be received at an access device, such as a cable modem or a wireless transceiver/radio. The access device can include components operable to process the communications signal to enable access to, for example, video, data, voice, high-speed Internet services. At least some of the components include an echo cancellation component among other components to cancel interference (e.g., ACI, ALI). For example, the echo cancellation component can use trained filters and samples of the upstream signal, echoed samples of the transmitted signal, feedback signals of the echoed signal, etc., to estimate one or more types of interference. Thereafter, the estimated interference can be used to cancel interference at the access device.

Abstract: A system for a video sharing service for inmates in correctional facilities is disclosed. The system includes an inmate device of an inmate, a database storing inmate profiles, and a video sharing server configured to receive a registration request from the inmate device for registration of an inmate for the video sharing service, the registration request including user credentials of the inmate, retrieve an inmate profile of the inmate from the database, authenticate the inmate based on the user credentials and the inmate profile, create an account for the inmate for the video sharing service in response to authentication of the inmate, receive an upload request to upload a video from the inmate device, analyze the video for restricted content, and assign a rating to the video based on the analysis.

Abstract: In some embodiments, a method receives a message that identifies an asset being viewed on a video service at a timestamp. The message is associated with a profile identifier and a plurality of messages are received for the profile identifier while using the video service. The method determines a channel identifier for a channel in which the asset is offered during the timestamp and determines whether a channel change occurred based on the channel identifier and a prior channel identifier determined from a prior message in the plurality of messages. When the channel change has occurred, the method stores the channel identifier and timestamp for the profile identifier in a data structure, wherein a list of channels is generated by querying the data structure to determine a set of channel identifiers and timestamps for the profile identifier.

Abstract: A method for automatically putting on standby an audio/video decoding system, including: obtaining information representing a program currently being broadcast by the system, referred to as the target program; performing a search for programs similar to the target program in accordance with at least one similarity criterion predefined in a database of information representing programs previously broadcast by the system, the broadcasting having been interrupted by a standby; determining a duration-of-inactivity threshold according to the number of programs similar to the target program; sending a notification intended for a user advising him of the imminent standby of the system if no interaction is noted between the user and system during a period equal to the duration-of-inactivity threshold determined after the end of the target program; and putting the system on standby if no interaction is noted between the user and system during a predefined period after sending of the notification.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of transmitting a video stream, including: intercepting a video stream from a server to a video client; wherein the video client is on a user device; throttling onwards transmission of the video stream to the video client; analysing content within the video of the video stream; and performing an action in relation to the onward transmission to the video client as a result of the analysis of the content; wherein the throttling continues during analysis of the content. A system and software for transmitting a video stream are also described.

The system and technologies allow an end user to create a news program that best matches the end user's tastes and preferences. To achieve this, one aspect of the disclosure relates to systematic personalization. Systematic personalization involves determining an end user's interests based on an assessment of user behavior as it relates to accessible content. The personalization process may also provide content to users that have been editorially curated.

Abstract: Systems and methods for generating notification interfaces synchronized with broadcast events and local interactions are disclosed. The system can receive a plurality of interactions corresponding to a conditional event opportunity of a live event from a respective plurality of client devices, and identify a broadcast receiver device that is presenting a broadcast of the live event. The system can generate instructions for a broadcast receiver device that causes an application executing on the broadcast receiver device to display one or more content items corresponding to the conditional event opportunity. The system can transmit the instructions to the broadcast receiver device to cause the application to display the one or more content items with the broadcast of the live event.

Abstract: Systems and methods of media devices are operable to receive appointment information from an electronic device, wherein the appointment information is defined by a time period for a scheduled appointment for a user, and wherein the scheduled appointment requires the user to be at a remote location that is remote from a location of the media device such that the user is unable to manually operate or use their media device. The media device is configured to automatically modify at least one operation of the media device based on the received appointment information that is associated with the scheduled appointment.

Abstract: A system and method for providing bitrate control for delivering media content to a plurality of virtual display (VD) screens presented in a virtual reality (VR) environment effectuated by a VR device of a subscriber based on detecting a movement in a point of view with respect the VD screens' placement within the VR environment, wherein each VD screen is configured to receive a media content channel. Responsive to detecting the movement, angular distance of each of the VD screens relative to a reference axis is computed. Weights to each of the media content channels may be assigned or updated based on the angular distance of the corresponding VD screens relative to the reference axis. Bandwidth of a managed bandwidth pipe may be (re)allocated based on the relative weights of the media content channels for delivering the media content channels to the subscriber's VR environment responsive to selecting single bitrates for the media channels according to a channel bandwidth annealing mechanism.

Abstract: This disclosure is directed to an item-identifying cart that may be utilized by a user in a materials handling facility to automatically identify items that the user places in their cart, and update a virtual shopping cart to include items taken by the user. The mobile cart may include four capture assemblies that are disposed proximate to each of the four corners of a basket of the cart, and oriented such that their respective optical axes are directed towards an interior of a perimeter of the top of the basket, and above the top of the basket. The capture assemblies may include proximity sensors that are used to detect movement above the top of the basket, LEDs that illuminate items, and cameras that generate image data representing the items as they are placed in, or removed from, the cart.
