Abstract: A passively deployable solar panel array. A truss backing is attached to the back of the solar panels, and has top segments, bottom segments, and hinge linkages that form a series of moveable parallelograms operable to fold and unfold. The truss backing further has springs and trusses, with at least one spring and one truss associated with each of the parallelograms. The springs are operable to deploy the solar panels from a folded position to a deployed position. Each truss is operable to become in tension diagonally across its associated parallelogram once the solar panels are deployed into a final position.

Abstract: The invention provides compositions containing a solid state electrolyte (SSE) containing an alkali metal and a sulfide for use as the electrolyte matrix in a solid state rechargeable battery. The SSE compositions may further contain phosphorous, silicon, or a dopant atom, such as a halogen. These compositions are advantageous as they use Earth-abundant elements, have high voltage stability, excellent battery cycle performance, and are fabricated and used under conditions that do not require excessive external pressures which would otherwise limit their use in a production battery. In particular, the SSEs have a controllable microstructure, e.g., core-shell structure, that enhances their inherent stability while obviating the need for excessively large pressures to control the electrolyte stability. Methods of producing the compositions and rechargeable batteries including the composition are also provided.

The motor is connected to the hub-platform through a chain. The motor drives the spoke-platform to rotate around a vertical axis at the center of the pedestal. The sprocket gears and the chains lift the solar panels to rotate them around the hinge mounted on the front supporting structure. The foldable hub-platform is expanded by the foldable lattice girders. The load of the tracker is distributed among the wheels sitting on the tracks of the pedestal.
