  • Patent number: 10159057
Abstract: A device, system, and method persists network registration rejection causes. The method is performed at a device connected to a network and comprising a temporary memory and a persistent memory, the device using the data stored in the temporary memory when performing network registration operations. When a power cycle is detected, the method includes determining whether there is persistent data in the persistent memory for a first attempt to register with the network prior to the power cycle, the persistent data including a rejection cause for the first attempt. When there is the persistent data in the persistent memory, the method includes determining whether the persistent data is valid for a second attempt to register with the network after the power cycle. When the persistent data is valid, the method includes generating and storing cause data based on the persistent data in the temporary memory prior to the second attempt.

  • Patent number: 10149238
Abstract: Intelligent radio access control selecting a first cell device of a first cell layer or a second cell device of a second cell layer or selecting a radio access technology for communication by a mobile device are provided. A device receives information indicative of an access assignment for communication. The access assignment is generated based on a defined criterion, which is associated with a policy of determining a cell layer assignment prior to determining a radio access technology (RAT) assignment. In response to receiving the information, the device can update its configuration to transmit via a transmission parameter based on the information. The cell layer assignment can offload traffic from the first cell device to the second cell device while the RAT assignment can re-assign the device from a first RAT to a second RAT. Assignment can be based on network conditions or mobility state or applications of the device.

  • Patent number: 10142788
Abstract: Systems and methods including mobile devices determining their location using a location determination system, such as a global positioning system. A database stores the identifiers of cells representative of predefined regions in a hierarchical grid system. The location coordinates as function of time are converted to visitation patterns of the mobile devices to the predefined regions, based on converting the coordinates to cell identifiers and searching the database to find matches between the cell identifiers representing the regions and the cell identifiers representing the mobile device locations. For example, mobile devices having similar visitation patterns can be identified and divided into two groups; and information relevant to a region is transmitted to one of the group but not another. The visitation patterns of the two group after the transmission is identified and compared to measure a difference.
