Patent number: 7225940Abstract: A device for protecting the surface of homes and surrounding soil from heating oil spillage during the filling process of a heating oil tank that is stored inside of or underneath the home. The device catches any spilled oil thereby protecting the home and preventing contamination of the surrounding soil. Traditional heating oil tanks must be refilled on a regular basis, usually via a fill tube that extends from the tank through an exterior wall of the home. Some spillage usually occurs during each filling procedure, causing cosmetic and environmental problems. The present device solves this problem by providing a device that protects the home and surrounding soil by catching any oils that spills during filling. It does so by providing an aluminum device, in the preferred embodiment, that covers the fill neck and vent line, and provides a basin in which the spilt oil can be caught.Type: GrantFiled: October 3, 2003Date of Patent: June 5, 2007Inventor: Jorge R. Patent number: 7214434Abstract: The present invention relates to drywall corner beads, particularly drywall corner beads having an outer paper layer, and paper therefor. The improved paperbead includes an elongated core having an outer surface. A paper strip is bonded to the outer surface of the core. The paper is impregnated on one side with a polymer, preferably latex, that penetrates only about half the thickness of the paper. The other side of the paper is roughened to improve adhesiveness to joint compounds. The latex impregnated side of the paper maintains increased strength making the paper resistant to scuffing while at the same time, the roughened side of the paper improves its adhesiveness to joint compounds.Type: GrantFiled: June 17, 2003Date of Patent: May 8, 2007Assignee: Bailey Metal Products LimitedInventors: Donald C. Patent number: 7207148Abstract: A downwardly opening upper channel member (10) is positioned above an upwardly opening lower channel member (12). A lower end portion of the stud (14) is received in the lower channel member (12). An insert (54) is received in the upper channel member (10) at the location of each stud (14). Each insert (54) cooperates with the flanges (20, 22) of the upper channel member (10) to form a plurality of vertical sockets (102), one for each of the studs (14). Upper end portions of the studs (14) extend into the sockets (102). In a wall construction, wall board sheeting (WS) is connected to the stud (14) and the lower channel member (12) but not to the upper channel member (10) or the insert (54). As a result, relative vertical movement is permitted between the upper channel member (10) and the rest of the wall which include the studs (14), the lower channel member (12) and the wall board sheeting (WS).Type: GrantFiled: October 24, 2003Date of Patent: April 24, 2007Inventor: Matt F.
