  • Patent number: 10975610
Abstract: A method for producing insulating profiles comprises manufacturing a profile body and a first functional element separately, and the profile body and the first functional element are supplied to an ultrasonic welding device, wherein the profile body and the functional element are connected to one another by a material bond by formation of a welded joint. The profile body and the functional element are brought together into a predetermined first cross-sectional geometry during formation of the welded joint and are thereafter guided in this cross-sectional geometry until the plastics material of the welded joint solidifies to such an extent that the profile body and the first functional element are fixed in the predetermined cross-sectional geometry.

  • Patent number: 10753096
Abstract: Provided herein are connectors for use in assembling reinforced concrete structures, as well as methods of assembly using the connectors. In one embodiment, the connectors and methods provide for secure and easy connection to the butt end of any rebar rod, as well as attachment of an opposite end to another metal structure. For example, a butt portion of a connector slides over the butt portion of a rebar rod, and can include one or more sidewall openings to allow welding onto rebar that is enclosed within the butt portion of the connector. The opposite second end can include a faceplate for attaching a weld plate, thus permitting a series of connections using connectors and weld plates, among other things. The connectors provide selected properties that differ from the rebar, welds, and weld plates, such as stretch, yield strength, ultimate strength, and transfer of stress and vibration, among other things.

  • Patent number: 9681592
Abstract: Conductive concrete mixtures are described that are configured to provide EMP shielding and reflect and/or absorb, for instance, EM waves propagating through the conductive concrete mixture. The conductive concrete mixtures include cement, water, conductive carbon material, magnetic material, and metallic conductive material. The conductive carbon material may include conductive carbon particles, conductive carbon powder, and/or coke breeze. The metallic conductive material may include steel fibers, and the magnetic material may include taconite. The conductive concrete mixture may also include supplementary cementitious materials (SCM). A method of making a concrete structure includes pouring a concrete mixture to form conductive concrete, and positioning a first conductive screen within the conductive concrete proximate to an exterior surface of the conductive concrete.

  • Patent number: 8984822
Abstract: A roof-penetrating pipe is covered with a sealing pipe. An annular part overlies the roof-penetrating pipe and a downward extension fits into the roof-penetrating pipe to center the sealing pipe. A flexible seal has an upper part tightly gripping the sealing pipe. A compression ring compresses the upper part against the sealing pipe. The flexible seal is slid downward on the sealing pipe. A base on the flexible seal is secured to the roof. A roof penetrating pipe which is difficult to seal or which cannot be sealed due to corrosion, breakage or oxidation is covered with a cover sleeve apparatus. The cover sleeve provides a smooth sealing surface for application of a standard roof pipe flashing device. The cover sleeve is manufactured from materials to withstand the elements and to meet industry standard sizing.

  • Patent number: 8677710
Abstract: A roofing tile installation system includes spaced rows of installation strips each having an elongated base to which is attached a plurality of spaced apart hooks. The hooks are formed with a profile that engages and presses on underlying tiles and that grips and hooks around the lower edge of an overlying tile. Each tile is positioned and held laterally between a pair of hooks and held vertically on the slope of a roof by a single hook. An improved weatherproofing system includes a second layer of water resistive material which protects an underlying layer of plastic weatherproofing material against exposure to sunlight and erosion from wind and rain.

  • Patent number: 8069625
Abstract: Fire resistant door, glazing, and mullion frames include intumescent material at least partially embedded in the frame adjacent the door or glazing. Trim materials are positioned over the intumescent material to prevent tampering with and damage to the intumescent material while improving the aesthetic appearance of the frame. The jamb trim has a thickness that allows heat to be transmitted to the intumescent material in the event of a fire so that the intumescent material will expand and fill a clearance space between the frame and the door or glazing. The expanded intumescent material retards the passage of heat and, by sealing the clearance space, inhibits the transmission of smoke, flames and gases from one side of the door or glazing to the other. After expanding, the intumescent material will char and solidify, which may provide an added benefit of structural support for the door or glazing.

  • Patent number: 7165371
Abstract: The present invention addresses the demand for a technology that enables reutilization of a molding main body and the fasteners for fixing a molding main body to an automobile following the removal of these parts from one another. The present invention proposes a car molding and fastener, in which a base plate is provided to a fastener for fixing molding main body to a car body, base plate being inserted into and held in place in housing space of a fastener holder that is formed to molding main body. Elastic pieces are provided on opposite sides of base plate, and have protruding portions which engage in a releasable manner with engage-and-stop portions on either side of fastener holder. By manipulating these elastic pieces, the aforementioned engagement is released, so that fastener can be separated from fastener holder in this car molding.

  • Patent number: 4785481
Abstract: The device is in the form of a pair of specially designed glasses, goggles or an eye mask sealingly engaging the wearer's head. In each case, a frame includes a front support bearing one or more transparent, preferably prescription-ground lenses or eye shields, and a pair of side supports connected thereto. Components are connected to or built into the frame to allow free passage of air to the eyes while blocking contaminant-bearing liquids and solids. Thus, in one embodiment, eyeglasses are fitted with two sets of triangular preferably air permeable flexible sheets. One set of sheets depends from the side supports and is connected to the sides of the front support, with the other pair is connected to the side and front supports above the latter, being connected at its rear end to slides in the top of side support channels to permit easy folding of the glasses. In two other embodiments, goggles and eye masks bear air vents fitted with liquid and solid-blocking filters.
