  • Patent number: 9206545
Abstract: A fabric, such as a loop fastener material, is finished by applying a foam to a surface of the fabric, the foam containing both a liquid binder and a powder. The binder is allowed to flow into pores of the fabric and coat fiber interstices of the fabric as the foam collapses, and is dried to stabilize the fabric. The powder is of a particle size selected to cause most of the powder to remain on the surface of the fabric while the binder is dried to bond the powder to the fabric surface. The powder, as bonded to the fabric surface, is activatable, such as by heat or RF or UV energy, to adhere the stabilized fabric to another surface or to provide a desired surface property.

  • Patent number: 9199410
Abstract: A method of forming an elastic laminate including at least one elastic film and least two nonwoven webs laminated to each of the sides of the elastic film. The elastic film is fed in a machine direction towards a bonding station. The elastic film is stretched in the machine direction at a stretch ratio from 1.5 to 8 times of its original length, thereby forming a stretched film and the stretched film and said at least two nonwoven webs are laminated in the bonding station. The elastic film is stretched in at least two stretching steps before laminating it with the at least two nonwoven webs, wherein between 5 and 25% of the total stretching occurs in the last stretching step before lamination in the bonding station.

  • Patent number: 9187975
Abstract: A composite ball is formed with wound filament in a winding machine by winding the filament on a core, which can be permanent and form part of the finished ball. Alternatively, the core can be temporary. When winding is completed, the wound body is removed from the winding machine, an exterior of the wound body is finished, and the wound body is cured. When the core is permanent, at least a portion of the core is removed from the winding machine along with the wound body so any excess of the permanent core can be removed. The temporary core, however, is removed from the wound body, and the void is filled with filler material.

  • Patent number: 9186852
Abstract: Methods of making a fiber-containing prepregs may include drawing unsized fibers from a batch of molten glass. The method may also include applying a sizing composition to the unsized fibers to form a plurality of sized fibers, where the sizing composition includes a first polymerization agent for polymerizing caprolactam. The method may further include weaving the plurality of sized fibers into a fabric. Another step may include melting a reactive resin composition to form a melted reactive resin composition, where the reactive resin composition may include caprolactam. The melted reactive resin composition may be applied to the fabric. The method may further include heating the fabric and the melted reactive resin composition to a polymerization temperature, where the caprolactam polymerizes to form a fiber-resin amalgam including a polyamide. Another step may be to form the fiber-resin amalgam into the fiber-containing prepreg.

  • Patent number: 9186495
Abstract: A method of forming a lead includes providing an elongated lead body defining an annular groove disposed around a circumference of the lead body along one of a distal end or a proximal end of the lead body. A pre-contact is disposed around the circumference of the lead body within the annular groove. The pre-contact includes a pre-contact body having opposing first and second ends and first and second tabs extending outwardly from the opposing first and second ends, respectively. The first and second tabs are crimped together and folded flat against an outer surface of the pre-contact body. A polymeric material of the lead body is re-flowed to facilitate coupling of the pre-contact to the lead body. An outer surface of the pre-contact body is ground down to form a contact disposed along the one of the distal end or the proximal end of the lead body.

  • Patent number: 9180628
Abstract: A method for producing a tubular structural component and device for production thereof are disclosed. A tubular molding tool has an inner mold surface shaped corresponding to an outer surface of the structural component. A support surface of an expandable support, formed corresponding to the molding tool shape such that in an unexpanded state the support fills the molding tool while the support surface and the mold surface run parallel leaving an expansion spacing of the support surface to the mold surface, is covered with a tubular non-crimp fiber fabric, such that fibers of a fiber layer of the non-crimp fiber fabric run diagonally around the support. After the support has been arranged in the molding tool, the non-crimp fiber fabric is pressed against the mold surface by expanding the support with radial expansion of the non-crimp fiber fabric. The non-crimp fiber fabric is infiltrated by a curable matrix.
