  • Patent number: 7229511
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for automatically feeding slider-zipper assemblies to a station where the slider-zipper assemblies can be attached to bag material such as thermoplastic film. The apparatus includes a slider guide having a channel running the length thereof. The channel has a cross section that allows passage therethrough of sliders slidably mounted to a tape of connected slider-zipper assemblies. A tape drive mechanism is located at the outlet of the slider guide. The tape drive mechanism includes a pair of rollers that form a nip therebetween. The zipper flanges of the tape are threaded through the nip. The rollers have respective grooves that form a space for passage of the sliders as the tape is advanced by the rollers.

  • Patent number: 7201822
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a method by which a material may be placed onto a moving web in a transverse orientation. At least two assemblies, which carry either a first and a second web or a single web, periodically overlap each other in an alternating fashion such that a material may be placed upon their respective carried webs in a transverse manner. The first and second assemblies translate in a direction of web movement in order to modify the velocity of the web carried upon the assembly. Thus, with the velocities of the assemblies capable of being varied, the material may be placed in a transverse manner upon the moving web along with various other orientations.

  • Patent number: 7192504
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of bonding together two pieces of composite material (10, 26) by applying a layer of glass fibre (20, 28) to a surface of each piece of composite material 10, 26, and bonding the pieces together by means of adhesive (30) between the layers of glass fibre (10, 26). The inclusion of the glass fibre layers (20, 28) advantageously promotes failure of the bond adjacent the glass fibre-adhesive interface rather than at the glass fibre-composite material interface, with the result that damage to the composite material (10, 26) is minimised, and subsequent repair is made easier.

  • Patent number: 7182832
Abstract: The present invention provides a method of making a headliner for use in an automobile interior. The method of the invention comprises applying an adhesive on a first fiber mat and a second fiber mat to form a first adhesive-containing fiber mat and a second adhesive-containing fiber mat. The first adhesive-containing fiber mat and the second adhesive-containing fiber mat are optionally dried. A multilayered structure is then assembled by positioning the first adhesive-containing fiber mat between a first fabric layer and a padding layer and the second adhesive-containing fiber mat between the padding layer and a second fabric. Finally, the multilayered structure is pressed at a sufficiently high temperature to adhere the component layers of the headliner together. The invention also provides a variation in which the fiber mats are formed using the adhesive as a binder. Finally, the invention also provide a headliner made by the method of the invention.
