A vertical height of the ball is adjusted relative to the housing by adjusting a vertical height of the ball assembly relative to the housing. By changing vertical height of the ball relative to a top surface of the housing having an aperture through which the ball protrudes, a selectable portion of the ball will protrude through the aperture. Thus, an operator may make height adjustments of the ball relative to the top housing surface to suit his individual preference.

    Abstract: Smooth scrolling of a document on an all points addressable system which provides fast response and scrolling in increments of a single display row, while being storage efficient. The document is completely stored in compact format and a portion of the document which encompasses the current display window is stored in bitmap image format. There is smooth scrolling between displays completely within the bitmap image. The scroll is only interrupted for a scroll outside the portion of the document in bitmap image format, in which case the bitmap image is adjusted using the compact format to include that portion of the document with the desired display.

    Abstract: A control system comprises a liquid crystal display panel; a light source; and a light detector. Light from the source is directed through at least a portion of the liquid crystal display panel to the light detector. A control circuit is provided for holding the liquid crystal display in generally opaque condition while preferably sequentially momentarily clarifying segments of the portion, whereby momentary, sequential, transversely spaced light beams are generated between the light source and the light detector. A timer and logic circuit is provided for correlating signals received from the light detector with generated, individual, spaced light beams that create the signals. Accordingly, occlusion of at least one of the individual light beams with an opaque member causes a specific characteristic response by the timer and logic circuit.

    Abstract: Apparatus for displaying a logic timing diagram on a raster scan type display device is disclosed. A logic signal is sampled and representations thereof stored in a RAM. The RAM contents are read repeatedly in synchronism with a raster scan operation, and the read-out signal is delayed by a predetermined time which is shorter than one bit cycle of the read-out signal. Logical gating functions, OR, exclusive-OR and NAND gates, receive the delayed and undelayed signals, and provide output signals from which the display of the "High" level, edges and "Low" level of the logic timing diagram are derived. Since it is not necessary to convert the logic signal to display codes and rewrite a display RAM, high speed scrolling and magnification can be obtained quickly and easily.
