Abstract: Search results obtained from a ranking model are re-ranked based on user-configured ranking rules. For example, a user may desire to: place certain search results at a top/bottom of a ranking of search results; remove some search results; and/or adjust a ranking of some of the search results. A Graphical User Interface (GUI) allows a user to configure the ranking rules (e.g. enter key/value restrictions and to set a boost value) and to preview an application of one or more of the ranking rules. Query language operators that follow a standard operator syntax are created based on the inputs (e.g. a ranking query operator is created that may include multiple user supplied parameters). The user may also specify a portion of the results from which statistics (e.g. standard deviation, average score) are calculated. For example, a user may specify to calculate statistics for the top N number results.

Abstract: Techniques for query statistics inheritance are provided. Statistics for a database are used to determine selectivity estimates for sparse joins and tables being joined together within a given query. These statistics are inherited up to the given query along with the selectivity estimates and provided to a database optimizer to use when developing query plans and selecting an optimal query plan for the given query.
Abstract: According to one embodiment of the invention, a method includes generating a person-name Information Gain (IG)-Tree and a relation IG-Tree from annotated data. The method also includes tagging and partial parsing of an input document. The names of the persons are extracted within the input document using the person-name IG-tree. Additionally, names of organizations are extracted within the input document. The method also includes extracting entity names that are not names of persons and organizations within the input document. Further, the relations between the identified entity names are extracted using the relation-IG-tree.
Abstract: Techniques are described herein for making a clean file snapshot of a target file. The techniques may be applied to a single target file, to a set of target files, or to an entire database The techniques involve transitioning the target file through a series of states. During each state, particular actions are performed and/or prevented. In the final state of each approach, a clean file snapshot of the target file exists. Transitioning through the states, only one of which does not allow new changes to be made to the target file, allows the database to remain online and available to a greater extent than is possible with an approach that prevents database changes for the duration of the clean file snapshot creation operation.
Abstract: A method, computer program product, and computing system for defining a transactional log file for a data storage system including a data array. A first plurality of IO requests for the data storage system is processed. The transactional log file is updated to include information concerning the first plurality of IO requests. An IO pointer is defined to locate a specific IO request of the first plurality of IO requests within the transactional log file. File system metadata is defined on the data array for the data storage system.
Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for identifying associations between binary samples, such as e-mail files and their attachments or a document and an executable program associated with the document. In one implementation, the method includes receiving a plurality of binary samples, and extracting metadata from the plurality of binary samples. The metadata for a binary sample from the plurality of binary samples includes a set of attributes of the binary sample. The method further includes identifying a set of associations between the plurality of binary samples based on the extracted metadata. Each association is characterized by at least one attribute the associated binary samples have in common, and each association has a confidence level indicative of a strength of the association. The method also includes identifying associations with a confidence level that exceeds a predefined threshold.

Abstract: Systems and methods of determining computing device characteristics from computer network activity are provided. A data processing system can obtain data identifying a global cluster that indicates an interest category and can create a sub-cluster of the global cluster based on a characteristic common to content access computing devices. A weight indicating a correlation between the characteristic common to content access computing devices and the interest category can be assigned to the sub-cluster. Responsive to a communication between a first content access computing device and a content publisher computing device, the data processing system can identify a characteristic. The data processing system can associate the first content access computing device with the sub-cluster based on the characteristic of the first content access computing device and the characteristic common to the content access computing devices, and based on the weight can determine a status of the first content access computing device.

Abstract: A spam score is assigned to a business listing when the listing is received at a search entity. A noise function is added to the spam score such that the spam score is varied. In the event that the spam score is greater than a first threshold, the listing is identified as fraudulent and the listing is not included in (or is removed from) the group of searchable business listings. In the event that the spam score is greater than a second threshold that is less than the first threshold, the listing may be flagged for inspection. The addition of the noise to the spam scores prevents potential spammers from reverse engineering the spam detecting algorithm such that more listings that are submitted to the search entity may be identified as fraudulent and not included in the group of searchable listings.
