Patent number: 7172380Abstract: A wheel nut assembly includes a stud (1), a main wheel nut (4) mountable on threads (3) provided on the stud, and a retaining nut (6) engageable with threads (5) provided on the stud to prevent accidental loosening of the wheel nut (4). The threads of the wheel nut (4) and the threads for the retaining nut (6) are of opposite hand. A cap (11) is slidably mounted on the retaining nut (6) and biased into a first position by a spring (16). The cap (11) includes multi-hexagonal profiles (12, 14) for engaging hexagonal profiles (13, 15) provided on the retaining nut (6) and on the main wheel nut (4). Accordingly, in the first position, the retaining nut (6) and the main wheel nut (4) are rotationally locked to each other and because of the opposite hand of the respective threads it is not possible to remove the retaining nut. To release the retaining nut (6), the cap (11) is grasped and pulled to the limit permitted by the spring (16) to permit rotation of the retaining nut (6) and removal thereof.Type: GrantFiled: October 4, 2001Date of Patent: February 6, 2007Assignee: Wheelsure Technologies LimitedInventors: John Sydney Lees, David Daniel George Vile

Patent number: 7090451Abstract: The invention relates to a method for producing hollow bodies such as nut elements to be fastened to components that usually consist of sheet metal. The invention especially relates to a method for producing hollow bodies with an at least substantially square or rectangular outline by cutting individual bodies from a profile in the form of a profile rod or a reel after respective holes have been punched into the profile, and optionally afterwards producing a threaded cylinder. The inventive method is further characterized in that before or after the punching of the profile a passage treatment is carried out in order to produce a cylindrical or annular projection, concentric to the punching or the intended punching, on the side of the profile facing the component by flow of material. The projection is optionally shaped to an annular punched section in an additional molding cycle. The invention further relates to various hollow bodies, assembly units and molds for producing said hollow bodies.Type: GrantFiled: March 29, 2001Date of Patent: August 15, 2006Assignee: Profil Verbindungstechnik GmbH & Co. Patent number: 7090453Abstract: A screw which can be more quickly screwed into a work piece and has better chip-exhausting effect. The screw has a rod body and higher thread and lower thread formed on the rod body. On a conic section of the screw, a cutting thread with another guide angle larger than the guide angle of the lower thread directly extends from the lower thread. Accordingly, the lower thread of the screw has better cuffing, drilling and chip-exhausting function. Alternatively, the screw can have single thread or double threads with equal height. On a predetermined section of the rod body of the screw, a cutting thread with changed guide angle is directly formed as a part of the thread to achieve better cutting, drilling and chip-exhausting function.Type: GrantFiled: December 27, 2004Date of Patent: August 15, 2006Inventor: Teng-Hung Lin
