Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention replace relatively bulky nonwoven thermal insulating materials used in thermal liners with thin, lightweight, flexible films that maintain or improve TPP performance while reducing the thickness, and enhancing the flexibility, of the thermal liner so as to increase wearer comfort. Moreover, the films incorporated into the thermal liners can be both air and vapor permeable such that the TPP performance is not realized at the expense of THL performance. Rather, the THL performance of garments incorporating embodiments of thermal liners contemplated herein is comparable to—if not improved over—garments formed with traditional thermal liners.

Abstract: A security document with unidirectional visual illumination is disclosed. A security feature is positioned within the document and not visible in normal ambient lighting conditions but becomes visible under specialized lighting conditions, for example in the presence of ultraviolet light. The security feature is constructible such that it is visible only from a single side of the security document, with the side being predeterminable regardless of the orientation of the specialized light.
Abstract: A flexible display device includes a display panel, the display panel including a display surface and a rear surface opposite each other, and a plurality of adhesive films on at least one of the display surface and the rear surface, each of the plurality of adhesive films including at least one hole, wherein the plurality of adhesive films have a decreasing density, as a distance from a neutral plane of the flexible display device increases.
Abstract: A composite material with an insert-molded attachment steel is provided. The composite material includes a plurality of burring apertures, each of which has a flange in one direction on the attachment steel and is inserted between fibers. A resin is then introduced between the fibers in each burring aperture and external to the flange.
Abstract: A corrugated sheet metal wall sheathing for resisting external excitations such as wind or earthquake of light-framed wall structures. The sheathing has sheet profile proportioned to insure the top flutes deform laterally and yield at the end of the flute before the onset of any failure mode. A transverse slot in included in each top flute and adjacent web of the sheathing and spaced at intervals along the length of the sheathing.
Abstract: A breathable and waterproof composite fabric includes a fabric sheet and a waterproof plastic film. The fabric sheet has a first surface, a second surface and a plurality of micropores extending through the first and second surfaces. The waterproof plastic film is made of a non-porous material and has an outer surface, an inner surface bonded to the first surface, and a plurality of hollow protrusions protruding from the outer surface. Each of the hollow protrusions defines a channel having an inner open end at the inner surface and an outer open end distal from the inner and outer surfaces. A method of making the breathable and waterproof composite fabric is also provided.
Abstract: A composite skin material for a vehicle includes a fibrous substrate, a polyurethane resin layer provided on the front side of the fibrous substrate, and a woven fabric adhered to the back side of the fibrous substrate through an adhesive layer comprising a polyurethane resin. Openings penetrating the fibrous substrate from the front of the polyurethane resin layer are provided in the composite skin material, and an opening ratio on the front of the polyurethane resin layer is 1 to 15%. The woven fabric has a warp density of 25 to 50 yarns/25.4 mm and a weft density of 30 to 50 yarns/25.4 mm, and the mass per unit area of the adhesive layer is 15 to 100 g/m2. The composite skin material has air permeability of 5 to 100 cm3/cm2·s, tear strength of 20 to 150N, and tensile strength of 50 N/cm or more.

Abstract: The present disclosure is directed to light converter assemblies with enhanced heat dissipation. A light converter assembly may comprise a confinement material applied to at least a first substrate and a phosphor material also deposited on the first substrate so as to be surrounded by the confinement material. The first substrate may be hermetically sealed to a second substrate using the confinement material so that the phosphor material is confined between the substrates and protected from atmospheric contamination. The substrates may comprise, for example, sapphire to allow for light beam transmission and heat conductance. Confinement materials that may be employed to seal the first substrate to the second substrate may include, for example, silicon or a metal (e.g., silver, copper, aluminum, etc.) The phosphor material may comprise, for example, at least one quantum dot material.
Abstract: The present invention includes a label, a label sheet and a method for manufacturing the label. The label includes a paper facestock having first and second surfaces and a layer of pressure sensitive adhesive proximal to the second surface. The label can be adhered to a substrate having pre-applied indicia to cover the indicia and the label is opaque enough to prevent the viewing of the covered indicia while matching the color of the substrate.

Abstract: A method of processing a polymeric web includes providing a forming screen configured for supporting and moving with the web in a machine direction. The forming screen has a plurality of elliptical screen openings, each having a major axis perpendicular to the machine direction and a minor axis parallel to the machine direction. The method includes continuously depositing the web onto the forming screen and passing the web and forming screen through a water stream having a pressure level sufficient to cause the web to be forced into the screen openings, thereby forming protrusions extending from the planar surface of the web. Each protrusion has an apex, an opening at the apex, and an elliptical cross-section parallel to the planar surface of the web. The elliptical cross-section has a protrusion axis ratio that may be selected so as to produce a desired protrusion axis ratio.
