Abstract: A computer-implemented method includes displaying, within a user interface in a digital media system, a thumbnail representing at least a portion of a media clip, receiving user input corresponding to a play speed at which a media clip is to be played, determining whether the received user input exceeds one or more predetermined thresholds, and selectively disabling playing of a video portion or an audio portion, or both, based on a result of the determination.

Abstract: Method and apparatus for previewing new events in a computing device having a plurality of applications for managing respective events are described. Individual applications are each represented by an application icon on a screen of a graphical user interface for the device. In response to a new event of a one of the applications, the application's icon is visually modified to notify of the new event. A visual modification may be determined in response to the new event, for example, to preview a content of the event. The visual modification may include a count of all new events that remain to be disposed. On a selection of the visually modified icon, additional previewing may be provided. Activation of the application having a visually modified application icon may be configured to automatically initiate the application at the new event.

If the user interface objects meet a first predefined condition, the device then displays at least two of the user interface objects on a touch screen display. If the user interface objects meet a second predefined condition, the device then divides the user interface objects into at least first and second groups of user interface objects and then displays a first group icon corresponding to the first group and at least one user interface object from the second group on the touch screen display. If the user interface objects meet a third predefined condition, the device divides the user interface objects into at least third and fourth groups of user interface objects. The device then displays a third group icon corresponding to the third group and a fourth group icon corresponding to the fourth group.

Abstract: Aspects of the present invention relate to methods and systems for interacting with a digital marking surface, in particular, to methods and systems for deactivating an ink tool. According to a first aspect of the present invention, a tap gesture, or other gesture, on an ink mark associated with an ink tool may deactivate the ink tool, if the ink tool is active. According to a second aspect of the present invention, a deactivation ink tool may effectuate the deactivation of an active ink tool when a first ink mark associated with the deactivation ink tool is placed on a first ink mark associated with the active ink tool. According to a third aspect of the present invention, a deactivation ink tool may effectuate the deactivation of an active ink tool when an ink mark associated with the deactivation ink tool is placed on a user-input solicitation mechanism associated with the active ink tool.

Abstract: A system and method are provided that incorporate subjects or subject lines into instant messaging sessions or conversations on a mobile device. During an instant messaging session, the user is provided with an option to specify a subject for at least the current portion of the session or for the entire session. The subject is proposed to the other users in the session, who can accept, ignore or modify the subject at their end. Multiple subjects can be specified for a single conversation if desired, and the subjects can be displayed with the contact in a message list. The instant messaging sessions may then be searched using search tools that are typically used for search email and other data messages.

Abstract: A method and system for intelligent electronic information processing with cloud computing. The method and system include selecting one or more portions of a set of electronic information including any unwanted portions that have been reviewed and are to be eliminated from display. The selected portions are recorded on a cloud computing network in a cloud computing object thereby eliminating any unwanted previously reviewed portions of the set of electronic information from display with display of any additional sets of electronic information. The previously reviewed portions without the reviewed and unwanted portions are available to and across plural network devices and across plural login accounts anywhere on the cloud computing network.

Abstract: Methods, systems, computer readable media, and apparatuses for enabling chat sessions are presented. In response to detecting that a first user is viewing a first program, a chat invitation may be automatically transmitted to a second user. The chat invitation may identify the first user and the first program, and further may invite the second user to initiate a chat session with the first user. An updated chat invitation may be automatically transmitted in response to detecting that the first user has changed to viewing a second program, and a chat session that has been initiated may subsequently be transferred to another device. Content prioritization settings may be accounted for in transmitting one or more chat invitations, and before a chat invitation is transmitted, it may be determined that a sufficient amount of time has elapsed to suggest that the user will continue viewing the first program.

Abstract: Systems and methods are described for adaptively recognizing gestures indicated by user inputs received from a touchpad, touchscreen, directional pad, mouse or other multi-directional input device. If a user's movement does not indicate a gesture using current gesture recognition parameters, additional processing can be performed to recognize the gesture using other factors. The gesture recognition parameters can then be adapted so that subsequent user inputs that are similar to the previously-rejected inputs will appropriately trigger gesture commands as desired by the user. Gestural data or parameters may be locally or remotely stored for further processing.

While the value selection bar is displayed at the second length, the device detects a third user input that moves the value selection object within the value selection bar and, in response, enters a second value within the range of values into the first numerical value field based on a position of the value selection object on the value selection bar.

Abstract: Disclosed are a mobile terminal and controlling method thereof. The mobile terminal is controllable in response to a pinch-in/out touch gesture. The present invention includes activating a 1st application file via a specific application, displaying a 1st file image corresponding to the 1st application file on a touch screen in a single view state of displaying a single file image on the touchscreen, receiving a pinch-in touch gesture performed on the touchscreen, and switching the single view state to a multi-view state of displaying a plurality of file images in response to the reception of the pinch-in touch gesture. A 2nd file image corresponding to each of at least one 2nd application file and the 1st file image are displayed on the touchscreen in the multi-view state. The 1st application file and the at least one 2nd application file are activated by the specific application.

Abstract: A method for extensible chat rooms in a hosted chat environment includes providing multiple different chat rooms, each executing in a separate process address space of at least one computing device. Each of the chat rooms includes a textual transcript of chat postings and a video feed of a subject. A catalog of extensions available for provisioning in connection with the different ones of the chat rooms is displayed to different moderators of the different ones of the chat rooms. Thereafter, in response to a selection of one of the extensions by one of the moderators, the selected one of the extensions is provisioned for use in connection with processing a particular event in a corresponding one of the chat rooms. Specifically, the extension pre-processes the particular event as the particular event occurs in the chat room before permitting the chat room to process the particular event.

Abstract: An electronic device: while displaying a first user interface, detects a first input that is consistent with a request to display a second user interface and a request to display a third user interface. In response, the device starts to display a first animated transition from the first to the second user interface. While the first animated transition is being displayed, the device detects a second input. In response, the device determines that the second input is consistent with the request to display the third user interface and whether the second input is received at a first or at a later, second time. If at the first time, the device: interrupts the first animated transition at a first point and displays a second animated transition from the first point to the third user interface. If at the second, later time, the device interrupts the first animated transition at a second point (after the first point), and displays a third animated transition from the second point to the third user interface.
