  • Patent number: 7676581
Abstract: A resource manager for a network application, such as an application defined in a Web-browser, is provided. The manager requests resources, the resource type and a priority defined for the resource in the application. The manager is provided in a computer-readable medium having computer-executable instructions causing a computer to implement certain steps. These may include the steps of: interpreting resource requests from the Web browser based on resources required by a page; and issuing resource requests based on a user specified priority. The steps of interpreting and issuing may occur for all requests to a given domain.

  • Patent number: 7593998
Abstract: An object of this invention is to speed up file access and shorten the switching time upon failure. There is provided a computer system with plural storage systems and plural servers, in which: the storage systems each have a disk drive for storing files read/written by the servers and a storage control device, which has an interface connected to the servers via a network and a controller for controlling file read/write in the disk drive; the storage control device and the servers each have a cache memory, which temporarily stores files read/written by the servers, and a file cache control information unit, which keeps information of files stored in the cache memory; and the file cache control information unit holds information indicating whether or not a file is stored in the cache memory of the storage control device and/or the cache memories of the servers.

  • Patent number: 7571208
Abstract: The present invention extends to methods, systems, and computer program products for creating proxies from service description metadata at runtime. A proxy creation request is received from a requesting application while the requesting application is executing at runtime. The proxy creation request requests creation of a proxy instance to facilitate compatible communication between the requesting application and another application. A proxy instance is created in response to the proxy creation request. Service description metadata describing the other application is accessed (e.g., through a request to a metadata service or retrieval from cache). The proxy instance is configured in accordance with the service description metadata describing the other application. Accordingly, the proxy instance can facilitate compatible communication between the requesting application and the other application to implement operations that the requesting application requests to be performed at the other application.

  • Patent number: 7568036
Abstract: A self-adaptive resource management method (200) is proposed. The method is based on an authority (105) that publishes multiple rules into a corresponding repository (115). Each rule defines a desired target configuration for a category of subjects (110); each category is specified by one or more attributes that are evaluated by corresponding scanners (233-239). Whenever new rules are published, a dedicated module (120) creates and publishes further rules for selectively installing the scanners that are required for evaluating the attributes included in the categories of the new rules. These further rules are defined according to an algorithm that attempts to minimize the cost involved by the installation of the scanners.

  • Patent number: 7512700
Abstract: A stream data node receives real-time streamed data from one or more input devices, dynamically filters the streamed data to reduce the streamed data, and delivers the reduced data when requested. By providing real-time filtering of the data, the amount of data that must be stored in a database may be substantially reduced. The stream data node can perform aggregation functions, group functions, and select functions, thereby also significantly reducing the amount of data that must be stored in a database. The stream data node may also be part of a query execution data structure, where it delivers its data when requested by another node in the query execution data structure.
