  • Patent number: 9334593
Abstract: The purpose of the invention is to eliminate water-permeable sheets and thus to eliminate various bothersome works related to the water-permeable sheets. To achieve the purpose, the surfaces of the chutes 21, 22 are roughened by sandblasting. The chutes 21, 22 are made of metal such as stainless steel, for example. Processed metal surfaces are generally smooth with almost no friction. Moreover, metal has its inherent water repellency. If water is flowed on a bare metal surface, some parts do not get wet while some parts have concentrated surge water flow thereon. However, by sandblasting the surfaces of the chutes 21, 22, adequate friction resistance is generated and inherent water repellency of metal is eliminated.

  • Patent number: 9327438
Abstract: A method and system for melt processing a thermoplastic composition that contains a starch and plasticizer is provided. The composition is melt blended and extruded through a die to form an extrudate, which is thereafter cooled using a multi-stage system of the present invention that includes at least one water-cooling stage and at least one air-cooling stage. More particularly, the extrudate is initially contacted with water for a certain period time so that it becomes partially cooled and solidified on its surface. After the water-cooling stage(s), the extrudate is also subjected to at least one air-cooling stage in which a stream of air is placed into contact with the extrudate.

  • Patent number: 9316465
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for producing a highly oriented, high molecular weight polymer tape. The method comprises forming and compression-molding a polymer powder bed at a temperature below the melting point of the polymer to form a sheet; at a temperature below the melting point of the polymer, rolling and stretching the sheet in a calendar unit to form a partially oriented polymer web; at a temperature below the melting point of the polymer, drawing the partially oriented polymer web in a drawing unit; and, optionally repeating step c) to form a more fully oriented non-fibrous high molecular weight polymer tape, the method being discontinuous in that the ingoing line speed of one of the method steps b) to d) differs from the outgoing line speed of the preceding method step.

  • Patent number: 9314981
Abstract: An apparatus and method are provided for making a conduit divided into channels by one or more strip-shaped substrates. The channels may be used for cables, such as fiber optic cables, coaxial cables, electrical cables, electrical wiring, and the like. Each divided conduit provides channels that allow e.g., cables to be pulled through without snagging or excessive heat build-up due to friction. In addition, the divided conduits do not allow contact or alternation losses between adjacent cables in other channels of the conduit.

  • Patent number: 9308695
Abstract: A thermally conductive sheet has cut surfaces with low surface roughness and hence shows reduced thermal resistance at the interfaces, and high thermal conductivity in the thickness direction. Thus, the thermally conductive sheet can be interposed between any of various heat sources and a radiation member. The process for producing the thermally conductive sheet includes at least: an extrusion molding step in which a thermally conductive composition containing a polymer, an anisotropic thermally conductive filler, and a filler is extruded with an extruder to thereby mold an extrusion-molded product in which the anisotropic thermally conductive filler has been oriented along the extrusion direction; a curing step in which the extrusion-molded product is cured to obtain a cured object; and a slicing step in which the cured object is sliced into a given thickness with an ultrasonic cutter in the direction perpendicular to the extrusion direction.

  • Patent number: 9302454
Abstract: The present invention provides a multilayer film for forming medical solution pouches that help prevent or reduce the presence of bubbles or foam in the solution after heat sterilization. In particular, the present invention provides a multilayer film for forming medical solution pouches that are capable of passing the bubble test as set forth in the Chinese State Drug Package Container Material Standard No. YBB00112005. In particular, the present invention provides a multilayer film in which polyamide 612 or calcium stearate component has been incorporated as an anti-foaming agent. The presence of polyamide 612 or calcium stearate in one or more layers of the film helps prevent the formation of foam in the solution after heat sterilization.

  • Patent number: 9266278
Abstract: A method of manufacturing an obliquely stretched long film includes an oblique stretching step and a tension application step. In the oblique stretching step, a long film is stretched in an oblique direction with respect to a width direction into a stretched film (F). In the tension application step, while the stretched film (F) is being drawn along a longitudinal direction, a tension in a drawing direction is applied to the stretched film (F). Here, in the tension application step, the tension in the drawing direction of the stretched film (F) is changed in the width direction, and thus the stretched film (F) is drawn.
