  • Patent number: 10397856
Abstract: Provided is a method and wireless communication system that includes a HetNet, a serving cell with an associated coverage area and multiple additional low power nodes (LPNs) deployed in one or more clusters of cells in the coverage area. The LPNs transmit an associated discovery signal based on the timing of the associated small cell. The serving cell is configured to determine the timing of the cells and therefore the transmission pattern of the discovery signals and the serving cell configures measurement gaps such that the discovery signals are transmitted during the measurement gaps. The network is adapted to accomplish this for various degrees of granularity and timing measurement inaccuracies by placing the measurement gaps and/or adjusting the discovery signal (DS) transmission scheme accordingly.

  • Patent number: 10326564
Abstract: Methods and devices are disclosed for receiving and decoding sparsely encoded data sequences using a message passing algorithm (MPA) or maximum likelihood sequence estimation (MLSE). Such data sequences may be used in wireless communications systems supporting multiple access, such as sparse code multiple access (SCMA) systems. The Methods and devices reduce the number of states in a search space for each received signal and associated function node based on a search threshold based on a characteristic related to the received signal and/or to a quality of a resource element over which the received signal is transmitted.

  • Patent number: 10298417
Abstract: Methods and systems for obtaining improved channel estimates for frequency-multiplexed data transmissions such as OFDM, OFDMA, or SC-FDMA transmissions overcome the limitations of the static assumption by using a polynomial or other fitting function to fit and model the frequency dependence of the channel coefficients, so that estimates can be applied to larger subcarrier groups. Some embodiments provide channel estimates for a singular signal source, while other embodiments provide joint channel estimates for a plurality of signal sources. In embodiments, selection of the fitting functions is influenced by all previously determined channel estimates. In some embodiments, a tracking algorithm allows use of the lowest possible order of polynomial or other fitting function to model the frequency dependence of the channel coefficients, whereby the channel estimate is continually shifted in frequency while the order of the polynomial or other fitting function remains low.

  • Patent number: 10289504
Abstract: An access control method and system and an access point. When a fault occurs in an access controller (AC), an access point (AP) configures a network-layer interface of the AP according to an Internet Protocol (IP) address and a media access control (MAC) address of the AC that are obtained by means of pre-learning, and then the AP routes a received packet to a Web server on a wireless local area network (WLAN) using the configured network-layer interface, where the packet is used by a first station (STA) to request to access an external server. Therefore, interconnection and interworking among wireless local area networks are implemented, and a breakdown of a wireless local area network caused in a centralized network architecture due to occurrence of a fault in an AC is avoided.

  • Patent number: 10270606
Abstract: In one embodiment, a device in a network sends a first multicast message to a plurality of destinations in the network. The first multicast message includes a first bitmap that identifies the destinations. The device receives one or more acknowledgements from a subset of the destinations. The device determines a retransmission bitmap that identifies those of the plurality of destinations that did not acknowledge the first multicast message, based on the received one or more acknowledgements. The device sends a retransmission multicast message to those of the plurality of destinations that did not acknowledge the first multicast message. • Patent number: 10264482
Abstract: When a UE in an LTE system enters the RRC_IDLE state, only the S5/S8 EPS bearer context is retained, and the S1-U, S1-AP and radio bearers are released. These bearers have to be re-established on per UE basis when the UE returns to RRC_CONNECTED state. A number of UE applications may send small data frequently, which causes the UE to toggle between IDLE and CONNECTED states. This leads to a great deal of signaling overhead as the radio bearer and the S1-U bearer must be frequently re-established as the UE transitions between IDLE to CONNECTED states. Described herein are methods and systems that provide an always-on S1-U bearer to reduce this signaling overhead.

  • Patent number: 10230665
Abstract: Methods, apparatus, and systems for implementing hierarchical and lossless packet preemption and interleaving to reduce latency jitter in flow-controller packet-based networks. Fabric packets are divided into a plurality of data units, with data units for different fabric packets buffered in separate buffers. Data units are pulled from the buffers and added to a transmit stream in which groups of data units are interleaved. Upon receipt by a receiver, the groups of data units are separated out and buffered in separate buffers under which data units for the same fabric packets are grouped together. In one aspect, each buffer is associated with a respective virtual lane (VL), and the fabric packets are effectively transferred over fabric links using virtual lanes. VLs may have different levels of priority under which data units for fabric packets in higher-priority VLs may preempt fabric packets in lower-priority VLs.
