  • Patent number: 7770616
Abstract: A device for machining, in particular, profiling tree trunks is provided, which includes two rotating machining tools (2, 3), whose axes (A, B) are essentially offset by 90° in relation to one another and are oriented in an essentially perpendicular direction to the longitudinal axis of the tree trunk. The first machining tool (2) and the second machining tool (3) are arranged in relation to one another in such a way that the first axis (A) and the second axis (B) lie on a common plane (E) and/or that their respective workpiece machining zones (I, II) at least partially overlap one another in the transversal direction of the tree trunk or adjoin one another.

  • Patent number: 7708038
Abstract: A cutterhead for a peripheral milling machine including a cutterhead body including a generally cylindrical portion and a plurality of circumferential, spaced and offset blade unit mounting cavities extending into the cutterhead body from the periphery of the cylindrical portion for receiving a blade unit. The cutterhead further includes a plurality of blade units each having at least one cutting edge and means for removably securing each of the removable blade units in the corresponding blade unit mounting cavity. The cutting edge of each of the blade units is disposed to align with the cutting edge of each of the other blade units in adjacent mounting cavities to form a substantially helical, stepped blade row when the blade units are secured to the cutterhead body.

  • Patent number: 7669621
Abstract: A disc cutting apparatus for chipping wood chips from a log includes a chipper frame, a rotary cutting disc having a plurality of substantially radially disposed knife assemblies in relation to a proximal facing side of the disc and a feed spout into which a log is fed into the chipper apparatus. The apparatus further includes a bedknife, the bedknife having a first surface and an opposing second surface that is nonparallel to the first surface such that a wedge is produced between the first surface and the second surface for fitting within a corresponding nonparallel gap in the chipper frame. The bedknife further includes at least one secondary trimming edge for more complete reduction of wood chipped and for reducing the size of slivers formed.

  • Patent number: 7650917
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a system and method for forming an arched top door facing, and the resulting facing. The system includes a panel, a table and a cutting assembly. The panel has a first surface intended to be interiorly disposed and a second surface intended to be exteriorly disposed. At least one boss extends from the first surface. The table has a planar surface and a locator extending outwardly from the planar surface. The locator cooperates with the boss to locate the panel on the planar surface. The cutter assembly is operatively associated with the table, and includes a blade spaced from the locator. The blade engages the panel and forms a curved edge in the panel when one of the blade and the panel is rotated about the locator.

  • Patent number: 7644742
Abstract: The woodworking machine for shaping molding has a hollow cylindrical cartridge with end caps having openings defined therein adapted for inserting a blank strip of molding through the cartridge. Robotic grippers advance the molding strip through the cartridge in indexed increments. A cutter assembly is mounted on a movable table, the cutter assembly having a plurality of spaced apart cutters. An electronic control system, preferably including a programmable logic controller, causes the grippers to grip the blank molding, insert the blank through the cartridge, actuate the cutter assembly and move the table so that the cutters simultaneously cut a plurality of notches in the molding, retract the cutter assembly, advance the molding the indexed distance, and automatically repeat the cycle, ejecting the strip when notches have been formed in the entire length of the molding. The machine may be used to form dental molding.

  • Patent number: 7617852
Abstract: An apparatus for temporarily holding logs within cutting-off machines including two plates (60), each of which exhibits a plurality of pressers (61) and an appendix sliding within a guide (7). The plates (60) are associated with an actuator (8) which drive them, under control, in a substantially straight movement in the direction of the relevant guides (7). The pressers are disposed in mirror-like and parallel relationship to each other, that is, orthogonally to the logs (2) to be treated.
