  • Patent number: 6332300
Abstract: A coupling tool for a double wall is proposed which makes it possible to join an inner and an outer wall together without selecting places while ensuring a sufficient joint strength. The coupling tool is formed by an anchor formed by superposing two metallic plates so as to be spreadable, and a wire of a required length mounted to one end of the anchor. The wire is fixed to the anchor so as to protrude from an end opposite to the tip of the anchor. Since the anchor can be driven into the inner wall at any position, the outer wall can be fixed to the inner wall by use of the coupling tool without selecting places and number.

  • Patent number: 6330773
Abstract: An extension panel for connection to a lower panel of the type having vertical uprights defining upper ends and including a utilities passageway extending along an upper edge of the lower panel for receiving utility conduits therein. The extension panel includes a pair of space-apart upright posts, and at least one beam extending between the posts and rigidly interconnecting the same. A pair of structural members extend downwardly from the lower ends of the posts to engage the lower panel and rigidly interconnect the extension panel and the lower panel. The structural members are laterally spaced-apart to define a downwardly-opening utilities opening therebetween. The utilities opening is positioned in alignment with the utilities passageway of the lower panel to permit utilities conduits to pass through the utilities opening when the extension is secured to the lower panel.

  • Patent number: 6324800
Abstract: A support base for distributing a concentrated load over a contact surface is disclosed. The support base includes a body formed of moldable polymeric material having a top surface and a generally planar bottom surface. At least one recess is integrally formed in the top surface for receiving a support member. The support member transfers the concentrated load to the planar body. Furthermore, at least one through bore is provided in the support base, and the through bore extends from the top surface to the bottom surface of the support base for receiving a fastener. The through bore has a shaft portion and a relatively oversized cavity portion adjacent to the bottom surface for receiving fasteners such as nuts for securing bolts, as well as, bolt heads of different sizes and configurations. The support base has many advantages over the prior are for example, the base may be attached to different interface bracketry without be modified.

  • Patent number: 6321492
Abstract: The invention described is a system for seismic isolation or vibration of structures which is simple, relatively inexpensive and readily used for smaller structures. It involves use of bearings comprising a ball (10) and ball seats (12, 18) interposed between the structure and its foundation. Either the ball itself (24) or the seat surface (15) on which it rolls is compressible, the resistance to that compression providing a frictional braking force resisting rolling of the ball. This serves to dampen relative movement between the structure and its foundation. There are described several alternative constructions of the friction ball which is the preferred central element in the bearing device. There may be a plurality of balls (44, 47) in each combination of balls and seats.

  • Patent number: 6314702
Abstract: An assembled frame structure is provided. The structure includes a plurality of frame units, a plurality of connecting seats, and at least one screw element. The frame unit forms a hollow structure. The inner edge thereof describes a rectangular shape, while the outer edge thereof describes an approximate rectangular shape. The approximate rectangular shape has four chamfered corners. A spacer is disposed between the inner edge and the outer edge. A spacer describes a shape identical to that of the outer edge and has four connecting corners which extend in parallel to and opposite the chamfered corners. The spacer is offset from the inner edge as well as from the outer edge. Each of the connecting corners has formed therein a screw hole. The chamfered corners of adjacent frame units are disposed such that their screw holes align with the screw hole of a connecting seat positioned therebetween, so that the screw unit may be engaged with the holes in locked manner.

  • Patent number: 6308487
Abstract: A one piece molded plastic lattice simulates a lattice of separate superposed members. The lattice includes a set of continuous elongated members that lie in a plane. A second set of discontinuous elongated members intersects and interconnects the first set of members at junction regions. The second set of discontinuous elongated members may lie in another plane. The upper surfaces of the first set of members is transversely concave, or the upper surfaces of the second set of members is longitudinally convex, so that a discontinuity is created at each of the junction regions. In this way, the plastic lattice creates the illusion of being a multi-piece lattice.

  • Patent number: 6308478
Abstract: The invention relates to a device enabling reinforced concrete elements (1, 2) to be linked by means of metal cables, certain portions of which are inserted into the just made concrete (1) while the cable portions which are not inserted protrude into the enclosure formed by the second contiguous concrete element (2). The first concrete element (1) presents a reinforcement which terminates in the area of contact with the second concrete element (2). In parallel or extension to said reinforcement of the first concrete element, pieces of metal cable (4) are inserted so as to provide either spaces for locating the cable free ends in the first concrete element, or passages in the enclosure formed by said first concrete element.

  • Patent number: 6305140
Abstract: A pole assembly that has an inner pole fitted within an outer pole. The outer pole has a larger cross section dimension that the inner pole with a space between the two poles. Sets of two lateral supporting members extend from and joined to inner pole to the outer pole. Each set of lateral supports has two cross members both of which engage the inner pole and the outer pole. The space between the poles can be filled with a deposited fill material, like water or sand, that is impact absorbing to reduce injury and damage to a driver, a colliding vehicle and the post assembly. Each of the sets of lateral supporting members has two cross members that are perpendicular to each other and joined to each of the poles. Depending on the particular use for the pole, like a utility pole, wires or cables may extend up the height of the poles in the space between them by entering through holes in the lateral supports.
