  • Patent number: 4766991
Abstract: A feeding device for withdrawing from a feeding hopper (1) rod-like articles, particularly filter plugs in the manufacture of filter-tipped cigarettes, and for singling these articles. The device comprises a rotary fluted drum (2) forming at least part of the bottom of hopper (1), and a repelling roller (13) that is arranged between the wall (9) of the hopper (1) and the drum (2), in the vicinity of the end from which the drum comes out of the hopper, and that is rotated in a controlled manner in the same direction as the drum. The repelling roller (13) is so mounted that its axis is movable substantially parallel to the peripheral surface of drum (2) and, more particularly, it is carried by a lever (10) that is swingable about a shaft (4) which is concentric or close to the shaft (6) for the rotation of the drum.

  • Patent number: 4766997
Abstract: A chain conveyor system includes a plurality of interconnected links. The links include first barrel portions connected to engage and be driven by a mechanical drive mechanism including a sprocket wheel. Removable high wear preformed coiled bands having free ends are wrapped around the barrel portions of the links to provide bearings to minimize wear on the links resulting from contact with the mechanical drive member.

  • Patent number: 4767252
Abstract: This invention is directed to a manipulator for automatically supplying centrifuge machines for rotating bobbins of yarn in which the manipulator includes a carriage equipped with stop wings and tightening arms which grip the bobbins conducted to the carriage by a conveyor and wherein the carriage moves the bobbins to the baskets of the centrifuge machines and thereafter returns to its initial position while flaps mounted on the carriage cover the centrifuge machine as the bobbins are rotated therein and thereafter the flaps urge the bobbins from the centrifuge machines to a receiver plate.

  • Patent number: 4765795
Abstract: An elongate main body section of the manipulator has its opposite ends respectively connected to a base section and an object support section. The main body section consists of elongate flexible rod members extending in generally parallel spaced relationship to each other and to the central axis of such section. The lower end portions of the rods are driven by drive mechanisms within the base section to selectively cause the main body section to undergo extension/retraction, bending and/or twisting movement in desired directions. The rod members may be resiliently flexible throughout their entire extent, or may be comprised of rigid sections interconnected by elastomeric joints. In one embodiment the drive mechanisms imparts rotation to the lower end portion of each rod member to produce twisting of the main body section, while in another embodiment axial movement imparted to the rods is reacted by an object support section having relatively moveable components to produce the twisting movement.

  • Patent number: 4760910
Abstract: An apparatus for aligning and feeding elongated pieces, having a rotary drum which is provided on one side of a passage of the elongated pieces extending in the lengthwise direction thereof and which is rotatable about an axis parallel to the passage. The drum has peripheral receiving grooves spaced from one another at a constant pitch. A pushing cam is located in front of the drum to push the elongated pieces into the receiving grooves of the drum one by one. Below the drum are provided threaded shafts having spiral grooves for receiving the elongated pieces from the drum and conveying them in a direction perpendicular to the axis of the rotation of the drum. An aligning wall is provided on one side of the threaded shafts to align the elongated pieces during the conveyance thereof.

  • Patent number: 4756401
Abstract: Load bars are transferred, in loaded condition, to or from the hangers of an overhead conveyor by a load transfer apparatus having a pair of parallel tracks approaching the power-driven conveyor path perpendicularly. The parallel tracks guide manually movable trolleys toward the power-driven conveyor path. The ends of these tracks nearest the power-driven conveyor are pivotable downwardly. To transfer a load from the manual trolleys to the power conveyor, the power conveyor is stopped, suspension chains of the power conveyor trolleys are hooked to the load bar, and the pivoted track sections are lowered until the suspension chains of the power-driven trolleys bear the load. Suspension chains of the manually movable trolleys can then be disconnected from the load bar, and the manual trolleys are removed from the tracks for reuse. The tracks are designed with flanges which prevent removal of the manual trolleys except at specified locations.
